I’m a sucker for gel texture and pretty packaging, and daymellow’s soothing gels are definitely pretty. What caught my eye, though, were the ingredients. Vitamin is not an unusual ingredient in skin care products, but gold and diamond are not as common. Sure, they’re used in some luxurious lines, but I’d never bought into the hype of these ingredients. Gel texture has always been my favorite since I have oily skin, and daymellow’s soothing gels are recommended not only for skin care but also for hair care, body care and shaving. With their multifunctional use and luxe ingredients, I wanted to try them immediately!

Gold Aloe Soothing Gel

Ingredients and effects: Infused with aloe arborescens leaf extract to moisturize and soften skin as well as glacier water and gold to provide a cooling effect.

Skin care: This soothing gel was slightly sticky upon application but absorbed well, leaving a refreshing finish. Its watery formula moisturized my skin and controlled my oily T-zone a little bit. Among the three gels I tried, the Gold Aloe Gel was the most soothing to my face, even when I didn’t keep it in the fridge.

Body care: The Gold Aloe Gel was the most fragrant out of the three, boasting a subdued floral scent. It’s a great substitute for lotion and it left a really nice subtle scent on my skin. daymellow suggests mixing it with body oil for moisturizing effects. That left my skin feeling moisturized longer but with a slight clammy feeling by midday.

Hair care: Unlike other hair care products, this didn’t leave my hair feeling heavy or oily. It was very light and refreshing, and moisturized my hair well enough when I used it after a shower.

Shaving gel: I’d never tried using shaving gels before, so I was curious how this would fare. The gel was soothing on skin, but it didn’t give me the close shave that I wanted.

Diamond Cactus Soothing Gel

Ingredients and effects: Infused with opuntia coccinellifera fruit extract and hyaluronic acid to help skin retain moisture as well as 1500ppb diamond powder and silver flakes to keep skin moisturized and bright.

Skin care: My skin looked brighter after a week or two of using this gel. It didn’t leave my skin feeling heavy with product and worked as expected. When I used it with daymellow’s massage healer, the gel absorbed even better.

Body care: All of the gels are water-based, so none of them are particularly sticky. This was the least sticky and felt very soothing, especially after a hot bath. It had a subtle scent reminiscent of freshly cut grass, which added to its calming effects when I massaged it all over my body.

Hair care: Because it had an incredibly smooth texture, it was great as a hair serum. Like the Gold Aloe Gel, it was moisturizing and left pretty silver flecks in my hair.

Shaving gel: Although this gel did leave my skin slightly more moisturized than the Gold Aloe Soothing Gel, it also did not give me the close shave that I wanted.

Vitamin Bamboo Soothing Gel

Ingredients and effects: The Vitamin Bamboo Soothing Gel is infused with bamboo leaf extract and aloe arborescens leaf extract to moisturize skin while vitamin capsules smooth skin and vitamin complex gives it a radiant glow.

Skin care: The vitamin capsules act as a gentle exfoliator as the gel dissolves, leaving a slight yellow residue and small, almost grain-like particles. I really liked massaging it over my skin as it’s been really textured lately. The fragrance was very soothing to the senses and reminded me of being in a forest.

Body care: For body care, this was my favorite! I love exfoliating my skin but there aren’t a lot of options on the market that fit my criteria. This incredibly soothing formula is infused with vitamin capsules that offer gentle exfoliation while moisturizing skin. As the formula absorbs, the capsules don’t stick, so they just fall away and leave skin smooth and hydrated.

Hair care: This gel left my hair as hydrated as the others. The vitamin particles are really great for massaging the scalp, but with their yellowish-brown color, you wouldn’t want to leave the gel on.

Shaving gel: What made me love this soothing gel for body care made me dislike it as a shaving gel. I was worried that the particles would nick my skin, and like the other gels, this did not give me a clean shave.

Overall, all three daymellow soothing gels were great for skin, body and even hair care but didn’t impress me as shaving gels. I would recommend using the gels after shaving as they’re fantastic for soothing irritated skin.
