The End of Keeping Up with the Kardashians Elicits a Variety of Reactions from Twitter
- The Kardashian family announced today that their landmark reality TV series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, will end after its 20th season in 2021.
- Twitter users responded with a variety of reactions,
- from anguish to celebration.
It's official: Keeping Up with the Kardashians' upcoming 20th season will be its last. The popular reality series that launched the careers of one of Hollywood's most famous and notorious families will take its final bow in 2021 after 14 years on air. Members of the cast, including Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, and Kris Jenner broke the news Tuesday afternoon.
"After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and numerous spin-off shows, we are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years—through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children. We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way," part of their statement read.
The announcement came as a shock to both fans and haters alike. Regardless how you feel about the Kardashians, their sheer popularity and the extent of their celebrity empires (which have gone on to include cosmetic brands, clothing lines, and modeling gigs) are undeniable. And it all takes root in this very show.
Diehard fans mourned the end of the long-running reality series.

Some looked back on the show's memorable and truly unhinged moments. Who could ever forget "Kim, there's people that are dying," or "Would you stop taking pictures of yourself? Your sisters's going to jail."

Others felt relieved that the rein of the Kardashians—who've often stirred controversy for promoting unhealthy beauty standards, appropriating Black culture, and more—is finally coming to an end.

KUWTK was the first reality show that painted black women as the villain and aggressor while having black kids due to their fetishization of black men. who is genuinely upset that their shitty ass show is ending?

Some acknowledged the zeitgeist that is KUWTK.
Holy shit. End of an era.
The influencer/creator culture we have today would not exist without Keeping Up with the Kardashians and The Hills and The Simple Life.
Like, culture as we know it today does not exist without Keeping Up — for both good and bad. https://t.co/dQHYoraVkF
