The Newest Supreme x Nike Collab Has Something for Everyone

juggernaut have included wildly sought-after Air Force 1s, an ultra-luxe version of the Air Max 95, and a niche indoor soccer shoe called the Gato, just to name a few. And this week, Supreme and the Swoosh are joining forces to drop a head-turning take on the Air Max Plus, a cult-loved silhouette that was first released back in 1998.

The collaboration feels like a textbook move from Supreme. The label has dug into Nike's archive, picked a relatively overlooked silhouette, and then dressed it up in true Supreme style. There are three distinct colorways—two that fall in the category of "totally outrageous in a good way" and the third that skews much more low-key. The ones with the lime-green upper marked with swirls of orange and blue, along with the black pair with lots of red and pink, fall into the former category. The mellower option is an all-white silhouette with a tiny cherry-red Swoosh logo. 

A closer look at the wavy, fire-like design, and you realize that "Supreme" is actually spelled out within the swirls and shapes. The sneaker sits atop a polyurethane foam midsole paired with Nike's Tuned Air cushioning system. (While most Air Max styles have one or two Air bubbles at the heel, the sole of the Air Max Plus TN is literally lined with a whole system of them.) If three loud sneakers weren't enough, they're dropping alongside three matching running caps, complete with reflective printed logos.

All in all, this sneaker seems right on the money for 2020: heavy on nostalgia and chock-full of bright colors and bold design. The first wave of collaborative sneakers (and hats) will drop October 15 via Supreme's online shop. For the minimalists eyeing the sleek white colorway, you'll have to wait just a bit longer, as that won't drop until November. Either way, Supreme has managed to turn yet another old Nike sneaker into something sure to turn some heads.
