Meghan Markle Paired a Chic Brown Coat With a Tan Beanie and Boots While Shopping In Montecito

On Wednesday afternoon, Meghan Markle went shopping in Montecito, California, accompanied by her bodyguard. Paparazzi shots show Markle wearing various shades of brown, from her tan beanie to the richer brown

of her Massimo Dutti wool coat. Her leather Tamara Mellon boots were a smooth tan and she carried a Bottega Veneta clutch. Markle was somewhat disguised by her blue face mask and a pair of LeSpecs Air Heart sunglasses.

It's rare to see Markle out in her off-duty outfits, but she tends towards simple, classic pieces that are effortless stylish while also comfortable. In May of this year, she showed her at home clothes in the trailer for Prince Harry and Oprah's Apple TV mental health docuseries, The Me You Can't See. Markle wore a “Raising the Future” Mère Soeur t-shirt and Lorraine Schwartz earrings in her brief appearance.

Markle's outting took her to grocery store and furnishings department, Pierre LaFond & Co. She then headed over to clothing store Poppy and another furnishings store, Hudson Grace. An anonymous passerby observing the Duchess of Sussex told the Daily Mailthat they thought there was a “franticness to her shopping like she was just itching to get out and be somewhat normal. Even if it was for just an hour.”

It's possible that Markle was shopping for the upcoming holiday, as she and Prince Harry have been settling in to their home in California with their children, Archie and Lilibet. Make up artist Daniel Martin worked with Markle on her recent beauty look at the annual Salute To Freedom Gala in NYC in November, and he told People that the family has been enjoying their time together.

“They are loving life as a family of four. They've struck a rhythm as a foursome,” said Martin. “It's about finding that work-life balance now, which ties into Meghan lobbying for parental paid leave. They're experiencing it themselves. They know it affects everyone in the family.”
