Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers turned 38-years-old on December 2, and his fiancée Shailene Woodley didn't acknowledge the event on social media or appear by his side during celebrations. Apparently,
this means nothing about their relationship, a source told People, explaining what they have is “non-traditional.”
"They have a different, non-traditional relationship," the source said. “Shailene and Aaron are still together. It's not odd they don't post about each other on their birthdays in that sense, and are very private about things.”
It was first speculated that the couple were dating during the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, but they have largely kept out of the public eye. Then in February of this year, Rodgers was on stage at the NFL Honors award when he thanked his “fiancée” in his acceptance speech saying that “2020 was definitely a crazy year filled with lots of change, growth, some amazing, memorable moments.”
He continued, “180 straight days of having my nose hair scraped, playing for very little fans or no stands the entire season. I got engaged and I played some of the best football in my career.”
During an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon a few weeks later, Woodley confirmed they were together and showing off her engagement ring.
“Yes, we are engaged,” she said. “But for us, it's not new news, you know? So it's kind of funny. Everybody right now is freaking out over it and we're like, 'Yeah, we've been engaged for a while.''
In August, Rodgers caught heat when he came down with COVID-19, and admitted he was unvaccinated after having told reporters he was “immunized.” He was allegedly seen out during his reported quarantine time, but Woodley posted the accusations to her Instagram stories and implied they weren't pictures of Rodgers.
“Literally, y'all need to calm the f— down,” she wrote. “This is straight-up HILARIOUS.”
