Bella and Gigi Hadid have reportedly become even closer as sisters following the altercation between their mother Yolanda Hadid and Gigi's ex, Zayn Malik. A source told People, “Gigi and Bella
have grown closer since the Zayn and Yolanda incident. Bella has stuck by her side, as the situation has caused a lot of tension within the family.”
In September of this year, Malik was charged with four counts of harassment after allegedly getting into a physical altercation with Yolanda causing her “mental anguish and physical pain,” according to court documents.
“Gigi is done with Zayn,” the source added. “She's a really private person, so Bella has really been there to support her. It's been tough on all of them because they're all so close. That's her mom, but it's still her baby's father, even though their romantic relationship is over.”
They concluded, “This has not been easy on Gigi and has caused a lot of stress on relationships with her family.”
There were earlier reports that Malik's relationship with both sisters is damaged, though Bella was once close friend's with her niece's father.
“Bella has had a huge rift with him, as does [her brother] Anwar [Hadid],” a source said in early November. “They hate what he has done to their sister.”
In October, Malik plead no contest to the charges, though he has denied any physical contact with Yolanda. He wrote on Twitter, “This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the press.”
In another statement, Malik again denied the allegations, and said, “I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private.”
Malik was required to serve 90 days of probation for each count, and complete an anger management class and a domestic violence program.
