Blackpink’s Jisoo Rocked a Romantic Midnight Blue Dress While Promoting Her New K-Drama Snowdrop
Blackpink’s Jisoo might be the last of the beloved K-pop girl group’s four members to launch her solo career, but there’s little doubt she’ll look like a dream when she does
it. Case in point: While promoting the release of her new K-drama Snowdrop last week, the singer—and Dior global ambassador—stepped out in a romantic midnight blue Dior dress with a fringe skirt and bow detailing at the bust, fully embodying the romantic lead she plays. The couture dress is from the French house’s spring/summer 2019 collection.
During a press conference on Dec. 17, Snowdrop director Jo Hyun-tak revealed that he hadn’t initially thought of Jisoo for the role of Young-ro. “We didn’t think that a rookie actress would play Young-ro,” he said, per K-pop culture site Soompi. “However, as soon as I saw Jisoo, I thought, ‘That person is Young-ro.’ As soon as I met her, I remember imploring and compelling her saying, ‘You have to do it no matter what.’ Although I had no dignity, I remember it was hard to hide my feelings so I just suggested it.”
As for what it was like to make her acting debut, Jisoo told the audience, “I was nervous because this is a field I’m trying for the first time, but once I was doing it on set, it felt like I had become Young-ro. Everyone took such good care of me so I filmed enjoyably.”
Later, she added, “Since I was acting for the first time, I wasn’t sure how I was coming out [on video] and was lacking in many aspects. Jung Hae-in led me along well and treated me comfortably, so it was an environment that I could focus more in.”
After it was revealed in August 2020 that Jisoo would appear in her first acting role sometime in 2021, Blackpink fans have spent the months since speculating when she might also make a solo music debut. There’s no word yet on when to expect a Jisoo-led release, but if Snowdrop is any indication, we can expect plenty of gorgeous Dior looks to accompany it.
