ith the undiluted dose of beauty Black women administered last week, it’s certainly safe to say we’re ready for the holidays. As they went about their engagements, each embodied beauty like
only she can while reiterating the universal nature of beauty as art. No jokes, as we spotted our favorite Black celebs and beauty influencers, we were tempted to steal them a spot beside the Mona Lisa. Surely, even Santa would approve.
The Looks
First is Janet Jackson who showed up like a perfect sculpture made by the very hands of God. The serial hit-maker played around with soft shades that flattered her in more ways than one. For her eyes, Jackson stuck to a bronze tone that played up her big brown eyes becuase, why not? She also acentuated them with black eyeshadow across her lower lids for an extra pop. The mother-of-one opted for nude lips that complemented the entire look.
They say good things often come from things we least expect and Nigerian author, Chimamanda Adichie proved this. The multiple award winner shared a stunning lineup of photos on her Instagram that interestingly were refused by a magazine for being too “glamorous.” Rather than sulk at the incident, Adichie did only what Adichie can do — embrace all of her beauty fearlessly. Surely, she gave us a reason to love of all who we are while looking glamorous in the process. #selflove.
Hair
French model Didi Stone stood out from the crowd in a beautiful curly ‘fro. The hairstyle had enough volume to command attention, yet managed to not be all-over-the-place.
