Keanu Reeves Says It’s Okay If You Stream The Matrix Resurrections Online
The holidays are usually the blockbuster time of year, but with COVID cases rising, most people might be wary of a heading into a busy theater right now. Fear not, as
one of the most highly anticipated films of the year (or the past decade, even), The Matrix Resurrections, starts streaming the same day it hits cinemas.
The fourth installment of the famous Matrix franchise, Resurrections sees Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reviving their iconic characters Neo and Trinity under the helm of director Lana Wachowski once again. While familiar faces, like Jada Pinkett Smith’s Niobe, return to the screen, there are a number of new ones, such as Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Morpheus, Jessica Henwick’s Bugs, Jonathan Groff’s Smith, Neil Patrick Harris’s The Analyst, and Priyanka Chopra’s Sati.
The Matrix Resurrections starts streaming on HBO Max on Dec. 22 at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT and will only be available for 31 days on the platform. All you’ll need is a subscription (plans start at $14.99 per month) to start watching. And if you’re interested in catching up on past Matrix films, the whole original trilogy is on HBO Max too.

While some actors and filmmakers have protested the streaming format of new releases in this uncertain year, Reeves takes no issue—though, he made sure to joke about it first. “What are you, crazy? You’re going to stream the new Matrix on a laptop?” he teased during his interview with The Guardian. He ultimately gave in: “I mean, sure, stream it if you have to.”
So, there, with Neo’s permission you can stream all two and a half hours of his latest adventure online.
