Here is a rundown of five of the hottest news stories…
1. Rihanna covers Vogue with fashionable baby bump
Rihanna is, yet again, blessing her fans with high fashion maternity photos as she covers Vogue US. The singer, actress, entrepreneur and recent Forbes list billionaire covered Vogue for its May issue and brought the baby bump along, too. Photographer Annie Leibovitz captured Rihanna for the cover image in a stunning red lace bodysuit and gloves designed by Alaïa with coordinating red pumps and Chopard earrings. The spread, which comes nearly 11 years after her American Vogue debut in 2011, also features the soon-to-be mother wearing Marc Jacobs, Manolo Blahnik heels, Rick Owens, Jean Paul Gaultier and of course, Savage X Fenty.
While the 34-year-old superstar is a known fashion icon, Rihanna told Vogue that her and boyfriend A$AP Rocky are equally yoked in the style arena, describing their style as “iron sharpening iron.” This was before adding he was first banished to the “friend zone.”
Rihanna said the rapper “became my family” during the 2020 quarantine lockdowns. The two music artists left many of their luxuries behind to go on a road trip together from Los Angeles to New York. Together, they are embarking on a big part of life — parenthood. Rihanna recalled learning the pregnancy news, saying the two weren’t planning for a baby but also weren’t opposed to the idea of having one.
2. Nigeria: JJC Skillz refutes rumors of crisis in his marriage to Funke Akindele
Nigerian music star JJC Skillz has played down the reports of a major crisis rocking his marriage. The music veteran’s son had earlier dragged his stepmother, Funke Akindele Bello, on Tiktok. In a post shared via his Instagram page on Monday, April 11, JJC Skillz penned a message which indicated that all is well at home. “The only rock I know that stays steady and the only institution I know that works is the FAMILY. London is cool but I’m missing home @funkejenifaakindele my love ? Have loads of fun with the children. See you soon at home. Don’t let anyone spoil your vibes ? #familyfirst❤️ #Bellos4ever #chinesswhispers #devilisaliar,” he wrote.
The music veteran’s post came hours after it was reported that he had moved out of his home following issues with his wife. His son, Benito hinted about the rumors being true after he commented on a Tiktok post that reported about the crisis in the Bello’s home. According to the young man, the actress is not who many people believe she is. He also added that he lived in their house for two years and it was a horror.

South African singer and songwriter Lloyiso serenaded at the wedding of Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz. He made a showstopping rendition of the classic romance song “Only Fools Rush In” as the newlyweds shared their first dance. The pair tied the knot over the weekend in a luxury wedding in Palm Beach, Florida, after getting engaged in July 2020.
The lavish three-day affair was attended by the likes of Venus and Serena Williams, Eva Longoria, Gordon Ramsay and the popular Spice Girls stars Mel B and Mel C. Taking to Twitter, fans have congratulated the South African star on his specular milestone.

Passengers on a Manhattan-bound train had to dodge bullets while being blinded by smoke during the Tuesday morning commute, setting off a manhunt for a gunman whose motives are still unknown. Commuters were riding the subway as it neared the 36th Street subway station in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park just before 8:30 a.m. when the gunman opened two smoke grenades, brandished a 9 mm handgun and fired at least 33 times striking 10 people — seven men and three women — according to NYPD Chief of Detectives James W. Essig. Those 10 people were moved to area hospitals.

An additional 13 people were injured via smoke inhalation, falling down, or panic attacks, Essig said. Hospital representatives told the press Tuesday’s shooting left at least 29 people injured, who were treated at three nearby hospitals for injuries, none of which are life-threatening. The NYPD identified a man named Frank James, 62, as a “person of interest” in the shooting. James is believed to be the renter of the U-Haul vehicle found in Brooklyn and has addresses in both Wisconsin and Philadelphia, NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig said Tuesday.

Samuel Chukwueze’s equalizer in Villarreal’s 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich has helped the Yellow Submarine equal a mark only achieved by Manchester City in this season’s Champions League. With the quarter-final second leg fixture against the Bundesliga giants looking destined to extend into extra-time as scores was tied 1-1 on aggregate, the Nigeria international played a super-sub role to send the Bavarians packing at Allianz Arena.
Chukwueze, who replaced Arnaut Danjuma in the 84th minute, canceled out Robert Lewandowski’s opener four minutes after his introduction. The Nigeria international’s effort has now become the fifth goal scored by a substitute for Unai Emery’s men in the 2021-22 tournament — a feat only achieved by Premier League side Manchester City.
