Ben Simmons Is Making Bench Style a Thing

The three-time NBA All-Star Ben Simmons has been having a quiet season. In fact, Simmons hasn’t played in almost a year due to a back injury and hasn’t played a single

game in a Brooklyn Nets uniform since being traded from Philadelphia. The good news for Nets fans is that there is hope that he might return to the court soon, perhaps in time for the upcoming playoff games against the Celtics. But despite his injury, Simmons has maintained a supportive—and supremely stylish—presence on the bench. In other words, Simmons isn't letting a lousy back get in the way of getting off some significant fits.

Now, Simmons has always been a fashion-savvy guy, tending to favor the prototypical “NBA style” vibe popular with his peers: designer fashion mixed with more casual streetwear. When he played for Philadelphia, you’d see him in the pre-game tunnel wearing everything from menswear staples from Noah to Givenchy’s luxury wares to simple streetwear from Kith. But since making a move to Brooklyn, Simmons has seriously upped his style game, perhaps reaching its apex with a total head-turner this week. He paired a green lambskin leather jacket with matching shorts—both from Prada—and rounded out the look with covetable Nike x Sacai sneakers and a Supreme T-shirt. In the weeks prior, he’s worn a Louis Vuitton jersey-style sweater with matching Jordans, Dior knitwear and footwear, and there has been no shortage of Prada or high-grade Nikes. He also loves to color-match his kicks to his fit, the tell-tale sign of a true sneakerhead.

One might guess that Simmons probably has a few other top-tier looks up his sleeve for the upcoming games. (Although, here is hoping he leaves the shamrock green at home while his team is playing the Celtics.) While getting off some expert-level fits is likely no comfort to diehard Nets fans, you’ll have to take what you can get. And if Simmons can’t actually get out on the court just yet, at least he’s looking great while riding the pine.
