In an essay for the outlet she wrote, "When my husband and I tell friends that I’m pregnant, their first question after 'Congratulations' is almost always, 'Do you know what you want?' We like to respond that we won’t know the gender until our child is 18 and that they’ll let us know then."
Ahead, everything we know about McClard, including his producing résumé and how he feels about becoming a father.
He and Ratajkowski will soon become parents.
The couple, who was married in New York City Hall back in 2018, is expecting a baby. Ratajkowski wrote an essay on her pregnancy for the latest digital issue of Vogue, where she spoke about the difference between men and women during pregnancy. "My husband likes to say that 'we’re pregnant,'" Ratajkowski writes. "I tell him that while the sentiment is sweet, it’s not entirely true. I resent that his entire family’s DNA is inside of me but that my DNA is not inside him. 'It just seems unfair,' I say, and we both laugh. It’s kind of a joke, but just like the remark we make about our child’s gender, there is truth behind it. Pregnancy is innately lonely; it’s something a woman does by herself, inside her body, no matter what her circumstances may be. Despite having a loving partner and many female friends ready to share the gritty details of their pregnancies, I am ultimately alone with my body in this experience. There is no one to feel it with me—the sharp muscular aches in my lower abdomen that come out of nowhere while I’m watching a movie or the painful heaviness of my breasts that now greets me first thing every morning. My husband has no physical symptoms in 'our' pregnancy, another reminder of how different a woman and man’s experience of life can be."
Ratajkowski also mused about whether Bear-McClard secretly desired a boy. "I think about my husband and what a son would bring up for him," she writes. "Is he secretly yearning for a boy? When I ask him, he refuses to give me an answer, swearing that he doesn’t have a preference. But one Sunday as he’s watching football he makes a remark about how it’d be fun to have a little boy to watch with."
The couple was first linked in February 2018.
Ratajkowski and Bear-McClard were photographed smooching on February 13th, weeks before their February wedding day, at La Poubelle in Los Feliz, California. This was the first time they were publicly linked together. They never confirmed their relationship, nor did Ratajkowski confirm that she ended her three-year relationship with music producer Jeff Magid. (Reports they split broke in January.)
He's an award-nominated film producer.
Bear-McClard is an experienced film producer with movies including Good Time, starring Robert Pattinson, and Uncut Gems, starring Adam Sandler, on his résumé. He's also produced Mad Love in New York in 2014 and Still Life in 2006, according to his IMDB. Uncut Gems is his most high-profile project to date, earning him an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Feature.
He's also founded an independent movie studio.
Although his Instagram is no longer public, it previously linked to Elara Pictures, the New York City independent movie studio that he founded with Josh and Benny Safdie. Judging by his Instagram and Elara's site, he's done work on Jay Z's "Marcy Me" music video and Oneohtrix Point Never’s "The Pure and the Damned" (featuring Robert Pattinson, Benny Safdie, and Iggy Pop) video.
He used to have a public Instagram.
In 2018, Bear-McClard had 43.8k Instagram followers, which included The Weeknd (he plays a role in Uncut Gems) and @emrata. But his profile is no longer publicly available under its previous handle.
When it was public, Bear-McClard occasionally shared photos of himself. Everything had an artsy, filmmaker aesthetic on his 'gram. You know the type.
Ratajkowski regularly began liking Bear-McClard's Instagrams on February 3, 2017, suggesting they were likely friends or acquaintances for a year before they started dating (or she did a thorough deep-like of his old stuff).
Emrata had been dating music producer Jeff Magid up until late 2017. They were together for three years and were photographed out in September 2017. The NY Daily News reported in January that the couple were no longer living together. A source told the outlet then that in October, Emrata told neighbors that she was looking to move into her own place.
The couple regularly attends events together.
Since taking their romance public, Bear-McClard and Ratajkowski have had several major date nights. Most recently, they attended the 2020 Vanity Fair Oscars after party red carpet together.
They've also sat side-by-side at Lakers games, the Independent Spirit Awards, and Uncut Gems premiere.
