Since 2nd August of 2020, the photographer was Amir H.Z., an Afghan refugee living in Camp Moria on Lesbos, Greece, and Noemí Pascal, a photo editor
As journalists and photographers are not allowed to the new camp while NGO workers are instructed to not take pictures, visibility has been reduced to almost zero. Thanks to their Instagram account, many of the stories have been picked up by international media – but this wasn’t enough. They wanted to raise awareness of the current situation in Moria, where human rights are being violated on a daily basis.
That’s why they decided to invite European designers to create posters based on the pictures taken by people in the camp. More than 400 designers have joined the project and all posters are now available for download by individuals, organisations alike on their website.
LINKE.lab, the printing lab and exhibition space in Milan, supported the project by post-producing the photos and printing 1,500 posters for free.
On Valentine’s Day, 14th February Now You See Me Moria calls everybody – especially but not exclusively – people living in the European Union to show that we care. Here a few instructions: put up as many posters as you can, on your home window, across towns, at schools, universities, cultural institutions. Take a photo of the poster, add your location and tag the accounts @now_you_see_me_moria and @love_for_moria. Share it on your social media!
