Don’t Skimp On SPF Protection Just Because Summer Is Over: 5 Products You Need Now
Summer is officially over and we’re in the heart of the autumn season which means our skincare routine needs some updating. While we’re switching to more emollient creams and hydrating facial
wash, we don’t want to leave out our sunscreen. Even when the days are shorter and it’s not as sunny, the sun’s UV rays are still harmful enough to penetrate the skin.
Wearing a sunscreen of at least SPF 15 or above can reduce the risk of some skin cancers by 40%. Also, sunscreen plays a vital role in reducing hyperpigmentation and dark spots caused by acne and hormonal changes. Wearing sunscreen all year long helps your skin stay healthy and protected even when it’s cold.
When choosing a sunscreen, I prefer one that is at least SPF 30 or higher for maximum protection. There are both chemical and mineral sunscreen formulas and which one works best is usually based on preference. Mineral sunscreen forms a barrier on the surface of the skin that reflects UV rays away from the skin.
Chemical sunscreens work to penetrate the top layers of your skin to absorb harmful UV rays before they can do damage. Chemical sunscreens are also less likely to leave a white cast. Whichever formula you choose, make sure to apply it at least 15 minutes before sun exposure for maximum protection.
Here are 5 new SPF’s you can try this winter to keep you protected.
