Dior brings collaborative men’s pop-up to Vancouver
May 11, 2021
Dior is bringing its latest men’s pop-up to Vancouver, Canada at luxury retailer Holt Renfrew.
The playful pop-up was created for the French luxury brand’s pre-fall 2021 men’s collection and was designed by Dior’s menswear creative director, Kim Jones, in collaboration with American street artist, Kenny Scharf. The pop-up is part of a series of exclusive pop-up boutiques running from Beijing to Vancouver.
Located in the Skybridge at Holt Renfrew, the pop-up is home to large-scale sculptures paying ode to Scharf’s vibrant Pop aesthetic, which embodies Surrealism and science fiction. Likewise, the carpeted floor design mimics the galaxy, playing into the interstellar journey recalling the futuristic atmosphere of the runway presentation.
Dior first unveiled the pre-fall 2021 menswear collection online on December 8, and simultaneously as part of a presentation in Beijing, where the first examples of Scharf’s contributions were shared.
The pop-up concept previously debuted at SKP in Beijing, as well as at Miyashita Park in Tokyo. Others are planned for Harbour City in Hong Kong, the IFC in Shanghai, Galleria in Seoul and Selfridges in London.
Dior along with Jones have been big on artist collaborations in recent years. For past shows and pop-ups, Jones has commissioned work from the likes of hipster artist Kaws, artist Hajime Sorayama, as well as artist Shawn Stussy. Jones’ latest collaboration was with multi-disciplinary Scottish painter Peter Doig, for Dior’s Men’s Winter 2021 collection.
The Vancouver pop-up is now open through May 30.
