Selena Gomez Shows Off Scar in Blue One-Piece: 'I Feel Confident in Who I Am and What I Went Through'
Selena Gomez took a moment today to share a stunning photo of herself modeling a blue one-piece swimsuit from her friend Theresa Mingus' La'Mariette swimsuit line—and to open up about her
journey of accepting and embracing the scar she has from her kidney transplant surgery in 2017.
She captioned her photo, "When I got my kidney transplant, I remember it being very difficult at first showing my scar. I didn’t want it to be in photos, so I wore things that would cover it up. Now, more than ever, I feel confident in who I am and what I went through...and I’m proud of that. T - Congratulations on what you’re doing for women, launching @lamariette whose message is just that...all bodies are beautiful."
Within 10 minutes, the photo had over 1.1M likes. That's the power of Selena:

This isn't Gomez's first time modeling a swimsuit from Minus' La'Mariette line. Gomez appeared wearing a blue bikini on the fashion brand's Instagram page on September 4. She looked radiant in the print two-piece:

Gomez spoke to Amy Schumer earlier this year for Interview magazine about how being public about her health journey—both physically and mentally—has helped others. "I don’t know if that was ever meant to be my role [being a mental health advocate], but I love people," she said. "I care, a lot. I’ve gone through a lot of medical issues, and I know that I can reach people who are going through similarly scary things—an organ transplant, or being on dialysis, or going away for treatment. A huge part of why I have a platform is to help people. That’s why I think I’m okay with the magnitude. I mean, I’m not really okay with it—but I’m going to say that I am because it’s worth it. I know that I’m making someone somewhere feel good, or feel understood or heard, and that’s worth it for me."
