Kim Kardashian Files To Be 'Officially Single' In Kanye West Divorce Proceedings
Kim Kardashian filed legals documents on Friday that are awaiting a judge's signature and which will make her “officially single.” TMZreports the documents will separate the issues of child custody and
property, still to be decided, from her marital status. The papers also ask for her maiden name to be restored, removing the West from her surname.
Kardashian was in attendance at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum just a few hours before the filing when Kanye West took to the stage and sang “Runaway.” Kardashian had brought the couple's children, North and Saint, to support their dad and her ex, and West took it as an opportunity to say once again how much he wants to reconcile with her, ad-libbing new lyrics at the end of the song that said, “Run back to me ... more specifically, Kimberly.”
West and Kardashian have been maintaining what seems like a healthy co-parenting relationship and support one another at various events. West was in New York when Kardashian was prepping for her hosting gig at Saturday Night Live, Kardashian was at West's Donda listening event. And this week they attended the funeral of iconic designer Virgil Abloh together, a difficult event for West who was a close collaborator with Abloh.
As for the rest of their separation, they seem to be working out issues of property. Kardashian bought West out of their Hidden Hills Estate for $23 million. The bigger problem is how West will react to the idea of Kardashian's singlehood becoming official. Over the last few weeks, he's been making many public pleas for their reconciliation, even insisting in some interviews that he is still his wife.
Meanwhile, Kardashian is stilling dating comedian Pete Davidson, visiting him in New York and welcoming him into her home and family in Los Angeles.
