Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas Discuss How Fame Affects Their Marriage and Having Kids in the Future
Vanity Fairdevoted its cover story to Priyanka Chopra, and the magazine was able to speak with her and her husband, Nick Jonas, about how being A-list stars has affected their private
relationship. Chopra in particular has been working nonstop, taking on some of her biggest and meatiest roles in Hollywood. Both addressed how their relationship being scrutinized by the public has impacted how they live their lives privately.
“We both know that public life is something that comes with what we do,” Jonas said. “But we’ve set real boundaries around our personal lives, our privacy, and worked really hard to create that little safe haven for ourselves with our friends and family.”
Chopra said, after speculation arose and passed that her and Jonas’s relationship was strained because she changed her name on social media, that she tries not to give the commentary too much weight. “It’s a very vulnerable feeling, actually, that if I post a picture, everything that’s behind me in that picture is going to be zoomed in on, and people are going to speculate. It’s just a professional hazard…Because of the noise of social media, because of the prevalence that it has in our lives, I think it seems a lot larger than it is. I think that we give it a lot more credence in real life, and I don’t think it needs that.”
For his part, Jonas had gushing things to say about his wife of three years. “She can come across as so regal and refined, which she certainly is, but she’s also got this carefree joy about her and she just exudes it,” he told Vanity Fair. “She’s an incredible host in that way. I’m more of a reserved person at first, and I open up with friends and people as I get to know them better, but she can make you feel like you are in the family and a part of the inner circle right away.”
Chopra also shared the couple’s thoughts on starting a family now amid their flourishing careers. “They’re [kids] a big part of our desire for the future,” Chopra said. “By God’s grace, when it happens, it happens.” When told that their lives seem busier than ever with all their projects, Chopra responded, “No, we’re not too busy to practice.”
She added that when they do welcome a child, she has no issue with slowing down with her career commitments. “I’m okay with that. We’re both okay with that,” she said.
