1. Nigeria: Singer Seyi Shay is engaged
Nigerian singer, Seyi Shay, is engaged and may be walking down the aisle soon. The 36-year-old made this known during an interview with Beats FM. She was asked about the noticeable diamond ring on her finger and she explained how she got it. “Some guy gave it to me and said ‘hey would you marry me?” she said.
Shay confirmed her engagement and further stated that it’s one of the reasons she has been glowing. According to her, her relationship sealed the entire package. The music star, who is also pregnant, has not revealed the identity of the lucky man she is about to walk down the aisle with.

2. Fashion visionary and former Vogue editor, André Leon Talley has died

Vogue’s former creative director and editor-at-large Andre Leon Talley has died at the age of 73. The fashion journalist, whose career spanned five decades, died on Tuesday in New York, his representatives said. A statement on his Instagram page confirmed his death “with great sadness” and described Talley as a “larger-than-life” figure.
Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, remembered him fondly as “magnificent and erudite and wickedly funny.” Other fashion figures, including designers and models, have also paid tribute.
3. Billionaire’s COVID vaccine plant opens in South Africa

South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa has opened a new manufacturing plant which will be the first in Africa to produce COVID-19 vaccines from start to finish. The Nant-SA facility in Cape Town was an initiative by the US-based, South African-born biotech billionaire Dr Patrick Soon-Shiong.
It aims to start producing the vaccines within a year and to make a billion doses annually by 2025. South Africa has two other facilities which produce vaccines from semi-finished batches. At the opening Ramaphosa said the move showed that the African continent was moving towards self reliance.
4. Twitter begins billboard ‘manifestation’ campaign

On Tuesday, January 18, Twitter launched its celebrity-powered “manifestation” project, engineered by the power of positive thinking in 280 characters or less. Megan Thee Stallion, Issa Rae and Matthew À. Cherry are among the artists, athletes and celebrities whose tweets became a reality, and are now set to go extra-large on billboards around the country.
Those tweets will appear in the hometown locations of the stars “who manifested their dreams,” in eight cities around North America, reads a statement from Twitter. The campaign has kicked off a new trend on the app as tweets about manifestation are at an all-time high, the social network reports, with 100% year-over-year growth and a total of close-to 60 million posts over the past three years.
5. Xavi says Ousmane Dembele needs to sign new contract or Barcelona will ‘find an exit’

Barcelona boss Xavi says France winger Ousmane Dembele must sign a new contract with the club or he will have to leave. Dembele’s deal runs out in the summer and Xavi says talks over a renewal have been taking place for five months and “we cannot wait any longer.”“Either the player renews or we look for an exit for the player – there is no other possibility,” he added. “We are in a complicated situation and we have been very clear with Ousmane.”
Dembele joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 in a deal worth an initial £96.8m and potentially rising to £135.5m, although the 24-year-old’s time at the Nou Camp has been hampered by injuries.
