YBNL act, Fireboy DML has joined Grammy-winning star, Wizkid, as well as Tiwa Savage, Omah Lay and Ghanaian singer Kidi, to be nominated on Tuesday night for the NAACP Image Awards in the Outstanding International Song category, organized by the National Association for Advancement of Colored People. The Nigerian singer, Fireboy DML, got the nomination from his hit song, “Peru” while Wizkid was nominated for his “Essence”, featuring Tems and Justin Bieber. Tiwa Savage’s “Somebody’s Son”, featuring Brandy, gained her nomination, while Kidi and Omah Lay received nominations for their song, “Touch it”, and “Understand” respectively.
The 2022 NAACP Image Awards were announced Tuesday in a virtual event on NAACP’s Instagram channel, hosted by actress Kyla Pratt, Black-ish actor, Marcus Scribner, and singer Tinashe. The winners will be announced during the two-hour live television special, which will be hosted by seven-time NAACP Image Awards winner, Anthony Anderson, airing on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 8:00 PM ET/PT on BET.
2. Megan Thee Stallion features in first Super Bowl ad
Megan Thee Stallion is hitting the ground running as the face of the fiery brand, thanks to a commercial that will air during the holy grail of all time slots: the Super Bowl. Per a press release provided to Mashed, Megan “perfectly embodies the Flamin’ Hot spirit and attitude.” It’s safe to say that no one is going to argue with that.
The ad will air on February 13. This is the first-ever Super Bowl ad for any Flamin’ Hot brand, the press release notes. But the products will join a long and storied history of Doritos commercials during the beloved sporting event.
3. South Africa: Zozibini Tunzi bags acting debut on ‘The Woman King’
Miss Universe 2019, Zozibini Tunzi has announced she has been cast for the star-studded American historical film “The Woman King.” The former Miss SA is set to star alongside legendary American actress Viola Davis, John Boyega and SA’s own Thuso Mbedu. Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, she revealed she has never set foot on a set and this will be an acting debut.
“I am so honored and excited to announce I have been cast for the film The Woman King (@womankingmovie). It is a completely new world and first time experience for me so I enter it with the utmost respect and humility. Forever grateful and looking forward.”
4. Organizers of 2022 Grammy Awards announce new date, venue

Organizers of the Grammy Awards have announced a new date and location for the 2022 edition of the award. The Recording Academy disclosed that the annual awards show has been fixed for the April 3rd, 2022 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
This is coming after the Recording Academy announced that the awards ceremony which was early scheduled for January 31st, 2022 has been postponed. The ceremony which was earlier fixed for Los Angeles at the Crypto.com Arena (formerly the Staples Center), was postponed due to the surge of the Omicron variant.
5. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: Arsenal striker says heart scans in London show he is ‘absolutely fine’
Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says he is “completely healthy” after having medical checks on his heart. The Gabon international football player, 32, was ruled out of the Africa Cup of Nations after scans revealed “heart lesions” following a bout of COVID. “Hi guys, I came back to London to do some additional checks,” striker Aubameyang posted on Thursday alongside an image of himself at the gym. “And I’m very happy to say that my heart is absolutely fine.”
Writing on Instagram, he added: “I’m completely healthy! Really appreciate all the messages over the last few days and I’m already back at it.” Aubameyang has not played for Arsenal since a disciplinary breach which saw him lose the captain’s armband in December.
