Robert Pattinson Sets the Standard for Freaky Heartthrob Dressing
Robert Pattinson has a tendency to look like he’s just emerged from some sort of underworld. This usually works in his favor, given the batty legacy that arcs over his career,
spanning from teen vampire to caped crusader. And speaking of the latter, Rob’s currently dressing the part while back in his London hometown to promote his titular role in The Batman.
Yesterday, Pattinson departed a press junket in an outfit that covers most of those bases, looking like an off-kilter ’90s heartthrob in a hulking black trench suit paired with a chunky silver chain. The accompanying requisite Costa Coffee cup and head of hair that looks like someone raked some LA Looks Xtreme Hold through it only add to the persona, at once groggy and breezily unscathed. Hell, Rob’s a bottle of peroxide and a comb away from Spike of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. After all, what doesn’t Twilight owe to Buffy? (And on that bottle blond note, may we direct you to…the March 2022 dual covers of one Gentlemen’s Quarterly?)
In fact, the outfit was put together by GQ’s very own fashion director Mobolaji Dawodu, who also styled Rob for the cover shoot. He’s been dressing Pattinson during the press tour and confirms that Pattinson’s press junket look here is full Bottega Veneta, paired with a chunky Martine Ali chain.
The Batman himself stayed on the same track at tonight’s London premiere, wearing an oversized Jil Sander tweed suit, a chunky chain bracelet, and even chunkier shoes. So far, he’s really hitting a sweet spot of dressing both on-theme and on-trend: all neo-goth leanings aside, the big suit is back, and it’s only getting more 2003 NBA Draft by the minute. Find yourself a big silver chain and proportion accordingly.
