Gigi Hadid Donates All Fashion Week Earnings to Help People in Ukraine and Palestine
Gigi Hadid is donating all her earnings from walking in fashion week shows to help people in Ukraine and Palestine.
In a statement posted to Instagram, Hadid explained that “Having
a set fashion month schedule has meant that my colleagues and I often present new fashion collections during heartbreaking and traumatic times in history. We don’t have control over most of our work schedules, but we would like to walk ‘for’ something. Following in the footsteps of my friend @micarganaraz, I am pledging to donate my earnings from the fall 2022 shows to aid those suffering from the war in Ukraine, as well as continuing to support those experiencing the same in Palestine.”
Hadid added that "Our eyes and hearts must be open to all human injustice. May we all see each other as brothers and sisters, beyond politics, beyond race, beyond religion. At the end of the day, innocent lives pay for war—not leaders. HANDS OFF UKRAINE. HANDS OFF PALESTINE. PEACE. PEACE. PEACE. ?"
Hadid's post comes amid several other public figures raising money to help Ukraine, including Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, who launched a $30 million fundraiser and matched $3 million of their own money. As they said, “while we are witnessing the bravery of Ukrainians, we are also bearing witness to the unimaginable burden of those who have chosen safety. Countless amounts of people have left everything they know and love behind to seek refuge. With nothing but what they could carry, these Ukrainian refugees are in need of housing and supplies right away.”
