Lady Gaga and Caitlyn Jenner Were Filmed Having a Very Awkward Chat at the Oscars
Both Lady Gaga and Caitlyn Jenner attended Elton John’s AIDS Foundation Oscars viewing party, and footage of the awkward chat they had while entering the venue was shared by journalist Bahman
Kalbasi on Twitter. His tweet was innocent, with Kalbasi writing, “Couldn’t make out what what [sic] Caitlyn Jenner was saying to Lady Gaga here at Elton John’s Academy Awards viewing partying, but Gaga seemed rather formal with her.”
Fans were able to piece parts of the conversation together, however. The dialogue was as follows, which you can hear in the video clip too. Fans subtitled the video, which Kalbasi shared:
People are kindly putting subtitles on this moment I filmed yesterday. “Uhhh I have switched baristas..” should be a t-shirt. #LadyGaga#Shade#caitlynJennerpic.twitter.com/ImsYo5WAnG

“Are you spending time around Malibu anymore?” Jenner asked Gaga.
Gaga said, “Yes.”
“I haven’t seen you at the Starbucks in a while,” Jenner said.
Gaga responded quickly, “I’ve switched baristas.”
“I know. Well, good seeing you,” Jenner said.
“You too,” Gaga responded before the two parted ways.
Gaga presented at the end of the Oscars and earned acclaim for her support of fellow presenter Liza Minnelli. People reported that Gaga actually asked for Minnelli to be onstage with her. Minnelli’s former publicist Scott Gorenstein told the outlet, “Lady Gaga requested that Liza present the award with her.”
“You know how I love working with legends,” Gaga said onstage to Minnelli, making her admiration of the EGOT winner known. “And I’m honored to present the final award of the evening with a true show business legend.”
Gaga was one of the Oscars’ most surprising snubs: The House of Gucci actress did not get a Best Actress nod as many believed she would.
Gaga was still diplomatic, expressing her excitement when nominations came out for the one nod the film did get: Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Gaga congratulated her longtime hairstylist Frederic Aspiras on Instagram.
“I could not be happier for a man I call my brother, who I’ve worked with for the last 15 years, @fredericaspiras, for his nomination in Makeup & Hairstyling for House of Gucci,” she began. “Frederic was magical, precise, and dedicated months leading up to shoot and during filming. He prepared dozens of wigs for months and months, and did at least a year of preparation. He’s a living genius and Freddie, we are all so greatful [sic] to just even be near your talent, creativity and generosity of spirit. You continue to show your artistic DNA, your plan, your vision, and your deep connection to your family that drives you to excellence at all times. I love you, I’m rooting for you.”
“And to all the nominees this year, congratulations on all your hard work, dedication, your nomination and YOUR magic—you all deserve major recognition for what was a truly beautiful landscape of performances and accomplishments this past year,” she continued. “Your dedication during Covid, your huge hearts, and your ability to tell amazing stories is a gift to the whole world during what is for many a very hard time. Congratulations my friends. Bravo!”
