Ariana Grande's Friends Reportedly Think Her Engagement to Dalton Gomez Was 'Rushed' and Are 'Skeptical'
Ariana Grande and her Los Angeles real estate fiancé Dalton Gomez have spent most of their year-long relationship in quarantine together, with Grande announcing their engagement in December, 11 months into
dating. (Peoplereports the two first started dating in January 2020; the couple was first seen out together around Valentine's Day.) And while Grande and Gomez's families are "thrilled" about the two wedding, some of Grande's friends are concerned the relationship moved too fast, Entertainment Tonightreports. They aren't sure it'll last.
Grande and Gomez are "very in love right now, but friends think the engagement was somewhat rushed and are skeptical that the relationship will ultimately be short lived," a source said.
That source added that Grande and Gomez have kept this happy time largely to themselves. "Ariana and Dalton have been spending a ton of time together since getting engaged and keeping things pretty low key and private," the source said. "They’re mainly keeping to themselves and just enjoying their time together."
People reported in December that three months into dating Gomez, Grande relocated from New York City to Los Angeles, where Gomez works, so they could quarantine together. The two had been spending time in Grande's New York City home when the coronavirus pandemic first started getting serious. She ultimately bought a house in L.A. several months into quarantining with her now fiancé.
Grande chose to go to California with Gomez because "she realized he is very special," a source said.
"It was getting tricky for them to see each other, so she decided to take her chance," the source continued. "She purchased a house in the Hollywood Hills in June and never looked back. They are incredibly happy."
The insider added that "Dalton is a great guy. He is very focused on work and low-key. He likes keeping his relationship with Ari private. They have been able to get to know each other in peace."
Grande previously got engaged to Pete Davidson in June 2018 after dating for just weeks. The two ended their engagement that October.
