Justin Theroux Can’t Stop Wearing Great Coats
Come wintertime, there's basically one key to nailing a Big Fit: wearing a great coat. It’s the garment that has the power to transform any outfit from ordinary to the next
First up is a beige quilted jacket that you can be forgiven for having missed. That's because Theroux was wearing it while walking around with a quite sizable woven basket, and a rather tiny beanie. (Great fashion is all about scale, remember?) Humongous basket aside, the jacket itself looks to be from the cult-loved Japanese label Visvim, made of slightly puffed-up nylon and covered in beautiful stitching. (Almost as perplexing as the giant basket is Theroux’s dedication to sweatshirts with side-zippers, a beloved menswear look circa 2014. But that is a conversation for another time.) Then, the very next day, Theroux stepped out again in a big-time, robe-style overcoat on top of perhaps the sturdiest turtleneck known to man. Both days, he was out walking his adorable rescue dog, who even had on a similarly shaded coat of her own—bonus points for wearing a jacket that matches your canine’s.
Theroux clearly knows the power of a great coat—and perhaps more importantly, he knows how properly to wear one for maximal effect. Each look nails the art of tonal layering, and both jackets are eye-catching enough to make a wintertime fit instead of sabotaging it. Many of us could learn a thing or two from Theroux’s week of next-level outwear—just leave the giant basket accessorizing for the movie stars.
