Like every other K-Drama fan, I fell in love with the hit drama Crash Landing on You last year. That was when I first caught sight of K-Beauty brand Manyo, which leading actress Son Ye-jin models for. In the drama, North Korean army captain Ri Jeong-hyuk discovers some South Korean beauty products while shopping at the local market. He later gifts heroine Yoon Se-ri with Manyo’s Bifida Complex Ampoule, one of the brand’s bestsellers. Interest piqued, I couldn’t resist trialing the brand’s Bifida Biome Ampoule Toner and Bifida Biome Complex Ampoule. If it’s good enough for a chaebol heiress, then it’s good enough for me!
The Ampoule Toner and Complex Ampoule feature Bifida Biome™ as well as five types of probiotics to strengthen the skin barrier and shield skin from external aggressors. They also contain ten types of hyaluronic acid, which come in different molecular sizes to penetrate every layer of skin for deep hydration. Read on to see whether these powerful ingredients successfully strengthened and moisturized my skin!
Bifida Biome Ampoule Toner
This two-in-one product combines the functions of a toner and ampoule. In addition to Bifida Biome™ and hyaluronic acid, it’s further enriched with witch hazel flower extract and PHA extracted from milk. The flower extract tightens pores, soothes skin and creates a clear complexion, while the PHA removes dead skin cells and impurities from pores.
Designed for use after cleansing, it refines the texture of skin while boosting its ability to absorb ingredients from subsequent skin care steps. With its hypoallergenic, low-pH formula, Bifida Biome Ampoule Toner is suitable for dry and sensitive skin types.
This 400ml toner is absolutely huge! I love that I won’t have to worry about replacing it and getting used to a new toner anytime soon. From its simple packaging to its practically non-existent scent and gentle formula, the toner feels familiar and reliable. It leaves my skin thoroughly cleansed and does a great job at removing any impurities that remain after the initial cleanse. The watery texture is lightweight and hydrating and leaves a fresh, non-sticky finish.
Bifida Biome Complex Ampoule
Dermatologically tested and hypoallergenic, the highly concentrated Complex Ampoule balances, brightens and revitalizes skin while reducing the appearance of wrinkles. It creates youthful-looking skin that’s plump, firm and radiant, and also soothes sensitive and irritated skin.
Like the Ampoule Toner, the Complex Ampoule comes in minimal, streamlined packaging and has basically no scent. I was surprised by the ampoule’s beige-brown color but later discovered that it’s likely due to its caffeine and Theobroma cacao seed extracts. Compared to the watery Ampoule Toner, the Complex Ampoule comes in a much thicker, richer texture.
The Complex Ampoule left a slightly warm and tingly feeling on my skin immediately after application, which worried me slightly. Thankfully, it faded soon after. Despite its more viscous consistency, the Complex Ampoule was quickly absorbed into skin, with an ever so slightly sticky finish. It coated my skin well and made it feel extremely nourished and moisturized.
Overall Thoughts
During my trial, I enjoyed using the Ampoule Toner to ensure my skin was free of impurities after cleansing. I followed up with the Complex Ampoule immediately after to replenish my skin with moisture and nourishment. These two products were mild and easy to use, and made my skin feel well-loved. I also appreciated the lack of artificial fragrances, which is a major bonus for those with sensitive skin. The innovative formulas featuring ten types of hyaluronic acid in different molecular sizes truly paid off, as both products did a good job of offering deep and long-lasting moisture.
In terms of effects, the Ampoule Toner helped my skin feel cleansed, refined and smooth. It also prepped my skin well for subsequent skin care steps, making it feel purified and ready to soak in more goodness. While the Complex Ampoule made my skin feel revitalized immediately after use, I have not yet noticed long-term differences in brightness or firmness. That said, with the duo’s hypoallergenic formulas, these products have already integrated themselves seamlessly into my skin care routine, so I’ll be sticking around to see more changes.
