Summer Fashion Inspiration from Apink’s 10th Anniversary Single “Thank You”

Estimated Reading Time: 4 minutes

On April 19, Apink released the special digital single Thank You to celebrate their 10th anniversary. Member Bomi took part in writing the song, which includes heartfelt lyrics like “We were together with such beautiful memories, that alone is a gift.” The music video is a tribute to all that the group has experienced, as we see them reminiscing over past photobooks, albums and portrait shots, while a retro video camera effect adds to the nostalgic feeling. They also recreate a “fanmeet,” where Eunji sits behind a table with the group’s official lightstick, and the other members queue to see her. One by one, she puts Apink wristbands on them while they exchange “butterfly hands,” a move popularized by their debut song I Don’t Know. As the music video comes to a close, the members stand in front of a projected video collage of some of Apink’s most significant career moments. Each member’s handwritten message to Pink Pandas (the name of Apink’s official fan club) is also displayed.

The Thank You music video shows the members in some amazing outfits that stay true to Apink’s long-standing innocent concept, while also alluding to the more mature image the group has transitioned into in recent years. The MV includes two group ensembles with fun prints and bright colors – in two distinctive interpretations. Read on for some timely summer fashion inspo!

For the first look, Apink members are all dressed in their individual colors: red for Bomi, pale pink for Chorong, blue for Hayoung, green for Eunji, hot pink for Namjoo and yellow for Naeun. This highlights how, over the years, they have stepped into their own unique roles – all while maintaining the cohesiveness of the group. Long gone are the days of uniform white dresses in I Don’t Know. Throughout the video, the  girls appear in front of colored backdrops that correspond with their individual colors, and there’s even a montage that showcases each member’s name, color and representative object.

In this first set of outfits, they pair girlish dresses with cardigans and statement jewelry, experimenting with casual and edgy footwear such as tall boots, loafers and sneakers. The choice of footwear grounds the looks, making them wearable with a girl-next-door quality!

Bomi

Bomi dons a long-sleeve red and white floral-print A-line dress with a lace collar. She styles the vibrant yet ladylike dress with a pair of elegant gold hoop earrings, which are embellished with dangling pearls and gold-tone petals. For footwear, she goes for a tried-and-true combo suitable for everyday strolls around town: a pair of white platform sneakers with plain white socks.

Chorong

Clad in a more sensual take on the floral print dress, Chorong’s pink spaghetti strap sheath mini dress comes with a lace-trimmed V-neck. She covers up with a cropped fuzzy pink cardigan and furthers the luxe vibes with a rectangular pearl hair claw. Her contrast-platform mid-calf white boots and silver accessories (including geometric dangle earrings, an alloy choker and a tag pendant necklace) offer a cool, effortless touch to the luxe look.

Hayoung

Like Chorong, Hayoung matches her dress to her cardigan, coupling a short-sleeve ruffled wrap mini dress in allover polka dot print with a dark blue ribbed cardigan. Her pale blue bead dangle earrings add a dash of whimsy, while her versatile off-white mule loafers are smart but still comfy.

Eunji

Eunji is attired in a sleeveless smocked sheath dress in mint with a ruffled hem and a sheer white cardigan to keep the look modest. Like Bomi, she integrates pearls into her accessories: a pearl choker with a green flower charm that complements her dress, and a pair of pearl cluster earrings in a unique upside-down-horseshoe shape. If you’re not into super girly ensembles, take a page from Eunji’s book and inject some toughness with a pair of tall lace-up black boots.

Namjoo

Namjoo’s rib-knit bodycon mini dress comes in a daring pink and orange striped print. To let her dress take center stage, she accessorizes with silver hoop earrings and a chain necklace with subtle dangling accents. The cozy autumnal vibes of her slouchy point-toe mid-calf boots provide surprising juxtaposition.

Naeun

The only one in pants instead of a dress, Naeun sports a color-coordinated outfit starring a cropped white tee with a smiley face print – I even picked out one with fitting “Thank You” text! Yellow can be rather hard to style, but Naeun creates a put-together get-up by combining basics: yellow high-waist jeans, a yellow cardigan tied around her shoulders, and tiny yellow heart-shaped earrings. She exudes a relaxed, summery mood with her layered beaded necklaces and bracelets, while her white sneakers allow for maximum mobility.

For the second set of looks, the group ventures into formal workwear with pieces such as dress pants, blazers and tweed jackets. Although still colorful, the palette is more muted and pastel-toned. Furthermore, instead of casual footwear, they opt for strappy, point-toe heels, which immediately lend a more sophisticated aura to the looks.

Chorong

Chorong swaps out her romantic floral dress from the first look for a simple and modern print. Her checkered long-sleeve mock-neck top in orange is tucked into a mint-colored A-line mini skirt – an unlikely color pairing that somehow works. She throws more color into the mix with retro pink triangular hairclips and a pair of yellow point-toe ankle-strap heels.

Eunji

Eunji’s collared mini dress with a swishy A-line skirt channels the aesthetic of a tennis star. The purple dress is lined with bold green contrast trim along the collar and sleeves, while its tonal buckled belt keeps things classy. She incorporates more playful yet glam accents with her rhinestone floral headband and gold-tone open-square earrings.

Naeun

Echoing Eunji’s purple dress, Naeun’s fuzzy purple cropped cardigan is adorned with a glam rhinestone brooch, which goes perfectly with her rhinestone heart necklace. She is the very picture of innocence in a white knee-length dress featuring a scalloped neckline and full skirt – perfect for twirling around in! A pair of point-toe slingback heels in pale pink completes her princessy apparel.

Bomi

Bomi rocks a pale yellow crop top with a sweetheart neckline, puff sleeves and a cinched waist alongside straight-leg pink trousers. The femme colors offer a fresh take on the office-appropriate staples. Her delicate gold choker is so thin it’s barely there, while her more ornate dangle earrings – gold hoops with pearl and hammered rectangle pendants – are similar to the ones she wore in her first outfit.

Namjoo

Namjoo takes the typically stuffy two-piece set and makes it sweet and breezy, going for a jacket and high-waist shorts in a light shade of pink. Underneath, she layers a striped knit crop top in candy-colored pastel hues, a softer iteration of the highly saturated striped knit dress from her previous look. She accessorizes with oversized pearl earrings and pale pink double-strap Mary Jane heels with pearl details.

Hayoung

Like Namjoo, Hayoung is dressed in a coordinated set. She combines a mint tweed jacket with a side-slit mint mini skirt in a gingham print that makes the set less overtly matchy-matchy. Her large mint hair bow suits the color scheme, while her half-up hairstyle with side-swept bangs keeps her looking neat and tidy. The ensemble’s demure air is enhanced with a white Mandarin collar blouse, layered pearl necklaces and dainty pearl studs – the antithesis to Namjoo’s dramatic earrings. From her hairstyle to her jewelry to the conservative silhouette of her clothing pieces, Hayoung’s outfit is the most consistently preppy-luxe of the bunch.
