It’s been a month since the launch of FRIENDS:The Reunion special, and if you’re a die-hard fan of the show, the 90s sitcom will always have a special place in your heart! What makes the show an enduring favorite? Apart from being hilarious and entertaining, the TV series’ cast wore statement-making outfits that still inspire our wardrobe selection today.

Feeling nostalgic? Take a trip down memory lane and recreate the cast’s most memorable and iconic outfits. We gathered some of their coolest 90s fashion moments below.

Rachel

Rachel Green has the most stylish outfits in the squad, which explains why we  feature more of her fashion choices than the other FRIENDS characters. Her looks never fail to impress. Want to be the Rachel of your crew? Try four of these outfit compilations!

Ever since the pandemic hit, athleisure has dominated our social media feeds, but 20 years ago, Rachel Green nailed this aesthetic before it started trending. She paired a graphic tee with a slouchy pair of drawstring joggers, andtopped off the look with chunky sneakers and white ankle socks. Perfectly slay Rachel’s sporty look by tying your hair into pigtails and wearing a cool baseball cap, just like she does in the show!

Reach for dungarees when you don’t want to overthink an outfit. This Rachel-inspired combo is ideal for when you’re running errands but still want to look put-together! She teamed classic dungarees with a basic white tee (which you probably already have in your wardrobe), and elevated the look by throwing on a black oversized blazer. Lastly, complement the outfit’s laid-back vibes with a pair of canvas sneakers.

Did Rachel predict that plaid prints and midi skirts would be a trend 20 years later? You’ve got to add this outfit to your workwear lineup! Rachel showed that plaid skirts aren’t just for schoolgirls. Cop her style by pairing a plaid midi skirt with a versatile lime green sleeveless mock-neck tank top to achieve a polished look. For footwear, slip on an elegant pair of block-heel sandalsand, voila, you’re good to go!

This outfit should be your next vacay OOTD! Rachel sported this easy-to-create laid-back look for a spring vacation. In a similar approach to the athleisure look, she teamed a flattering white crop tank topwith cargo pants and canvas sneakers. It doesn’t end here; she threw on a short-sleeve printed shirt to match the tropical beach vibes.

Monica

Arguably the two fashion pieces Monica Geller favors most are crop tops and denims.

The denim-on-denim trend is always in, and Monica proved this statement right! If Monica pulled off a whole Canadian tuxedo look, so can you! She tucked a slightly oversized denim shirt into washed wide-leg denims. She kept things super casual and minimal by completing the look with white ankle socks and white canvas sneakers

Crop tops are just so Monica! Channel 90s nostalgia in this casual weekend getaway look of a blackcollared cropped halter top paired with denim skinny jeans. Complete the outfit with canvas lace-up sneakers

Isn’t it obvious that Monica’s favorite color is red? Some of her chicest and most flattering looks are in this color, particularly her night-out ensembles. A sexy red top like this cropped camisole is all you need to mimic her look! We’ve also seen Monica sport different pairs of straight-cut jeans in a number of episodes, so match the top with a similar style of denims but with distressed details.  Finish the look with white sneakers

Phoebe

Phoebe Buffay is known for her eccentric, relaxed and hippie sense of style. One of her most iconic looks combines a midi skirt with a casual top.

A black maxi dress can look good on its own, but layering it with other pieces switches up the look. Learn from layering expert Phoebe who rocked a black maxi dress with a white turtleneck sweater underneath, and added layered accessories for extra glam. She injected a touch of grunginess with a black pair of block-heel ankle boots.

Judging from Phoebe’s fashion choices, she leaned towards a comfort-oriented style. She demonstrated how to make an elegant patterned midi skirt look effortlessly cool without sacrificing comfort. The key to nailing this outfit is by combining the skirt with anything slouchy, like an oversized sweater. Finish the look with a pair of faux leather platform boots, and tie your hair up into a ponytail with a trendy velvet scrunchie just like Phoebe’s.

Ross

Ross Geller is most likely to be spotted in a plain or colored button-up.

We end this FRIENDS themed style guide on a high note by recreating the most iconic outfit in the TV series – Ross’s oversized button-up shirt with a pair of denims. To slay the goofy character’s well-known look, choose a red oversized button-up plus a pair of cropped straight-leg jeans! Don’t forget to add a faux leather belt to ace Ross’s signature combo. Complement the look with a neat pair of faux leather platform loafers.
