Toners
Dear, Klairs features four toners: Supple Preparation Facial Toner, Supple Preparation Unscented Toner, Daily Skin Softening Water and Daily Skin Hydrating Water.
Part of the Supple Preparation line, which aims to create a strong base for all skin types, the Supple Preparation Facial Toner was released in 2012. A renewed version, the Supple Preparation Unscented Toner, was released in 2018. Nicknamed “the holy grail toner,” the Supple Preparation Facial Toner became highly sought after, selling over one million units in 2019. In the same year, it was included in Harper Bazaar Korea’s Bazaar Beauty Hot 100. Formulated with plant extracts, this gentle toner balances skin pH levels, relieves dehydration, fights inflammation and improves whiteheads. As many customers requested a version of the Supple Preparation Facial Toner free of fragrances and essential oils (find out more on episode 3 of “You asked, Dear, Klairs answered”), the Supple Preparation Unscented Toner was created, which is lighter in texture and suitable for extremely sensitive skin.
Riding on the success of the brand’s two cornerstone products, Dear, Klairs launched its second toner line in October 2019. Coming in large 500ml bottles, both the Daily Skin Hydrating Water and Daily Skin Softening Water provide skin with refreshing moisture and a non-sticky finish. The former is formulated with 45% green tea water to calm, soothe and hydrate skin. The latter is infused with 45% cucumber water, sugarcane extract and AHA for smoothing, exfoliating and pH-balancing effects, and it’s targeted toward those with flakey and acne-prone skin. Mini 50ml versions of both toners will soon be available at YesStyle.
Fundamental Line
With the Fundamental line, instead of offering instant results, Dear, Klairs hoped to return to the skin care basics of hydration and nourishment to achieve naturally healthy skin. The collection consists of gentle, simple and high-quality products, which are suitable for all skin types and can be used both day and night all year round. Instead of a line of products to be used in a fixed order, the Fundamental line allows you to create your own daily routine that suits your skin.
The lightweight, oil-free Fundamental Ampule Mist is formulated with 82% Jeju green tea water and antioxidants to instantly hydrate and calm skin.
The Fundamental Watery Oil Drop and Fundamental Water Gel Cream are both water-based, offering deep moisture with a non-greasy, non-sticky finish. The former offers regenerating and anti-aging effects with fermented extracts, while the latter leaves skin moisturized, refined and plump.
The Fundamental Eye Awakening Gel and Fundamental Nourishing Eye Butter are both enriched with Oriental Tea Complex and quad-peptides. The former is also infused with red bean extract and caffeine to de-puff eyes and improve dark circles, while the latter comes in a butter-like texture to provide nutrition to skin, promote elasticity and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
Gentle Black Line
The Gentle Black line contains cleansing and pore care products featuring natural black food ingredients such as black sesame, black cumin seed and black bean.
Both the Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil and Gentle Black Fresh Cleansing Oil remove makeup, blackheads and excess sebum. The former is enriched with soybean oil, sesame seed oil and blackcurrant seed oil, and this cleansing oil dissolves easily to prevent clogging pores. The latter is light and refreshing, and infused with vitamin- and antioxidant-rich ingredients such as sunflower seed oil, grape seed oil, jojoba seed oil and blackcurrant seed oil. The Gentle Black Fresh Cleansing Oil was created as a result of customer feedback for the Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil. Those with sensitive, oily and combination skin desired a fragrance-free option with a lighter, fresher finish.
The Gentle Black Sugar Facial Polish and Pore Gentle Black Sugar Charcoal Soap both contain black sugar to purge skin of dead skin cells, blackheads and excess oil, leaving oily skin soft and hydrated.
One of the brand’s newest releases, the Gentle Black Facial Cleanser was launched in May 2021. The vegan foam cleanser contains 4-Black Complex (truffle, blackberry, black bean and black cumin seed extract) to nourish, cleanse and hydrate skin. The mildly acidic formula also restores skin’s pH balance.
Blue Calming Line
The Blue Calming line is designed to calm sensitive skin, and consists of products best suited for use before bedtime.
The Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop comes in a watery consistency that is easily absorbed and improves signs of aging such as wrinkles and fine lines. The Midnight Blue Calming Sheet Mask offers anti-inflammatory effect, calms and cools skin, purifies pores and controls excess sebum. The Midnight Blue Calming Cream comes in two types of packaging, a 30ml jar and a 60ml tube. Featuring anti-inflammatory plant ingredient guaiazulene, which gives the cream its distinctive blue color, the cream heals sensitive and irritated skin with redness and sunburns.
Rich Moist Line
The Rich Moist line hydrates and soothes dehydrated and sensitive skin while regulating skin’s oil-water balance.
Formulated with five types of ceramide, the Rich Moist Soothing Tencel Sheet Mask adheres perfectly to skin to strengthen the skin barrier and deliver deep hydration. There’s also the Rich Moist Soothing Serum, which relieves dehydration, calms heated skin and removes whiteheads.
Another item from this collection is the Rich Moist Soothing Cream, which optimizes oil-water balance, reduces redness and diminishes the appearance of enlarged pores. This formula transforms dry, irritated and sensitive skin into hydrated, soothed and radiant skin. Aside from the original 60ml tube, it also comes in a mini 20ml version and a jumbo 80ml version. Released in April 2021, the Rich Moist Soothing Cream JUMBO (Renewal) was produced in response to customer feedback as many fans of the product frequently repurchased it and wished that it came in a larger container. The renewed version comes in eco-friendly packaging made of a softer material and a screw cap for easier use. The latest formula is also made with less essential oils.
