Centella asiatica is an herbal plant known for its amazing skin-healing and repairing properties. Nowadays, many innovative K-Beauty brands like VT are formulating this hero ingredient with other naturally derived active ingredients to produce skin care products like sheet masks, serums, essences, toner pads, spot patches and even sunscreens! If you’re a fan of the trending skin care ingredient centella asiatica (a.k.a. cica), you better not miss out on K-Beauty brand VT’S Cica line!
VT’s Cica collection offers a broad selection of products to choose from. The brand developed its own patented ingredient CICALIAO™ (which consists of centella asiatica extract, green propolis extract and centella 4X complex) that’s gentle and suitable for all skin types.
Lately, I’ve been obsessed with skin care that treats skin imperfections and blemishes. Last month, I reviewed Neulii’s AC Clean Saver line for troubled skin. This time, I had the chance to try out the Mild Foam Cleanser, MildToner Pad, Daily Soothing Mask and Spot Patch from VT’S Cica line.
Read on to find out how these four cica products kept my skin clean and refreshed in a one-week trial.
VT Cica Mild Foam Cleanser
What it is: This cleanser contains skin-soothing centella asiatica extract and moisture-retaining ingredients like hyaluronic acid, which all work to cleanse skin while moisturizing and strengthening the skin barrier.
My take:
This VT Cica Mild Foam Cleanser caught my attention right away with its huge packaging design. The large 300ml container is almost twice the size of standard facial cleansers in the market. The VT Cica Mild Foam Cleanser is similar to the Neulii cleanser I tried recently, especially in terms of texture. After my fourth use of the Mild Foam Cleanser, I noticed that my skin became much smoother and more hydrated. When lathered up, this gentle cream-to-foam cleanser deeply cleansed my skin without leaving a dry and tight feeling. Not only did VT’s cleanser deliver on its moisturizing promises, it revealed a glow in my skin post-wash! I’m usually not a fan of fragrance in skin care products, but the distinct and pleasant scent of centella in this formula smelled like a dream and wasn’t too overpowering.
VT Cica Toner Pad
What it is: These multifunctional toner pads are formulated with active ingredient BHA to tackle a buildup of dead skin cells, excess sebum and clogged pores. The double-sided pad has an embossed side that improves skin texture and enables meticulous cleaning, while the smooth side delivers moisture and soothes skin.
My take:
With its gentle formulation, the VT Cica Toner Padfit seamlessly into my weekly exfoliating sessions. The toner pads feature a double-sided design that serves different purposes, so I used both sides to reap maximum benefits. I swiped the embossed side first on my face to cleanse and gently exfoliate, and then swiped again with the smooth side to lock in all the moisture. Upon application, I instantly felt a boost of hydration, and the toner pad delivered a soothing effect on my skin. It’s lightweight and super refreshing, and it doesn’t leave any stickiness. These toner pads will definitely be something I reach for more often as part of my pre-bedtime skin care routine.
VT Cica Daily Soothing Mask
What it is: This box of sheet masks is soaked in VT’s signature ingredients − CICALIAO™ and Cicahyalon™ − to deliver intensive hydration and soothing care for dry and stressed-out skin. The 0.2mm thin sheet mask fits comfortably onto the face to promote quick absorption of active ingredients. The box comes in a pull-out design and contains 30 sheet masks.
My take:
I’m always drawn to nice packaging and the VT Cica Daily Soothing Mask is no exception, as it comes in a container resembling a box of wet tissues. The container is durable, convenient and environmentally friendly! Once opened, the smell of cica immediately soothed my senses, just like I had experienced with the Mild Foam Cleanser. The first thing I noticed about the Cica Daily Soothing Mask was that it was much thinner and firmer than the usual sheet mask, allowing it to adhere closely and strongly to my skin. It felt like second skin on my face and the essence didn’t drip at all, making this mask an ideal option if you like to multi-task while sheet masking. After leaving it on for 15-20 minutes as recommended, my skin absorbed all of the goodness of the mask, and came out hydrated and plump!
VT Cica Spot Patch
What it is: These thin and transparent acne spot patches minimize the risk of infection on your pimple by absorbing impurities while delivering constant hydration. The spot patches are designed to treat blemishes and pimples to prevent future scarring. Apart from its healing effects, the patch protects acne-prone and troubled skin from external stressors. A packet comes with three sheets containing a total of 48 patches.
My take:
In comparison to Neulii’s spot patches which I also tried recently, I prefer VT’s spot patchesas they offer calming, repairing and antibacterial properties to treat pimples and blemishes, on top of functioning as a protective layer against external aggressors. The efficacy of this patch was quick and noticeable − it did the job overnight! I stuck a spot patch onto one of my fresh pimples, and it turned white the following morning (a sign that it absorbed excess sebum and impurities from the pimple). Though slightly thicker than Neulii’s version, VT’s spot patch adhered closely and strongly onto my skin, and it didn’t fall off at all. If you’re looking for spot patches that not only cover up blemishes but also treat the area of concern , give VT’s version a try!
Final Verdict
All four VT cica products were equally good and delivered the benefits as claimed. They made me love centella even more! I’ve only used them for a week and have already seen gradual yet significant improvements on my skin − smoother skin texture, brighter and clearer skin − all thanks to centella asiatica! I see myself using these four products on rotation in my nighttime routine.
