In the skin care scene, VT is known for using natural ingredients and formulas backed by dermatological research and development. Like many people, I associate the Korean beauty brand with K-pop sensation BTS, thanks to its long-standing collaboration with the super group and its line of uber-cute BT21-packaged makeup.
Always a sucker for pretty packaging, I was drawn to the striking cobalt blue and white color scheme of VT’s Super Hyalon skin care range. Thankfully, I was already looking to add hydrating formulas into my regimen before the dry winter spells smack my skin with dehydration, so this new line arrived just in time!
Main Ingredients: Each skin care product is enriched with different kinds of botanical extracts for specific benefits. However, the key ingredient of the entire Super Hyalon range is G:H8™, a patented blend of Gamma-PGA (polyglutamic acid) and eight kinds of hyaluronic acid designed to provide skin with intensive moisture.
Step 1: Foam Cleanser
This ginormous 300ml cleanser was a godsend to my oily, dehydrated skin. The creamy white paste lathered up easily and left my skin thoroughly cleansed, ridding it of excess sebum and makeup residue without leaving a taut sensation. The formula also provided gentle exfoliation thanks to its small blue capsules of papain, an extract from papaya. The strong, soapy scent soothed my senses but might not suit those with sensitive noses.
Step 2: Bubble Sparkling Booster
The Bubbling Sparkling Booster exfoliates skin and unclogs pores, while added extracts from blue mallow flower and aloe vera leaf juice offer soothing benefits. The set includes ten individually packaged sachets. Each packet contained more than enough formula to cover my entire face and neck, with plenty leftover.
The thick and creamy formula cooled and soothed my skin for a couple of seconds before the tingling sensation set in. Within a minute, bubbles started to appear. After five minutes, there was a thin layer of bubbles covering my face.
Apart from being Insta-worthy and fun to watch, this was a great way to deal with my enlarged pores and textured skin as well as sebum, dirt and product buildup. I applied it once or twice a week and, after my third use, there were visibly fewer blackheads on my nose and my skin felt smoother. The only caveat is the tingling sensation, which might put off those with sensitive skin.
Step 3: Skin Booster
Like the cleanser, this toner arrives in a large 300ml size. Despite using it daily and liberally, I’ve barely made a dent in the bottle! The clear and watery Skin Booster was great for prepping my skin after cleansing and exfoliating, and it absorbed quickly into my skin. It doesn’t have a discernable fragrance.
Step 4: Renew Serum
The serum is neatly packaged in small sachets (28 pieces for 28 days), with each one providing just the right amount for my skin’s daily serum intake. Apart from having G:H8™ in its ingredient list, the serum is also enriched with panthenol for hydration, lotus flower extract to clear complexion, and marigold extract to soothe skin.
Using it religiously during my nighttime skin care routine has done wonders for my skin. The clear, watery formula absorbs quickly, leaving a slightly sticky but otherwise refreshing finish.
Step 5: Ampoule Set
The Super Hyalon skin care line boasts some unique packaging designs, and the ampoule set is definitely one of them! Coming in blister packaging, the set contains six doses of highly concentrated ampoule infused with okra fruit extract to nourish and moisturize skin. While the capsule-style packaging is eye-catching, the design affects its practical use as it was difficult to get all of the formula out. Thankfully, the ampoule also comes in a bottled version!
I used it once to twice a week, especially on days when I felt my skin needed extra hydration. The ampoule added an extra layer over my skin that locked in moisture. In a slightly thicker consistency than the serum, the light blue ampoule took a lot longer to absorb into skin. However, its efficacy was quick and noticeable as my complexion felt plumper overnight.
Step 6: 7 Days Mask Pack
The pack’s seven cotton masks come dripping in essence. Apart from the aforementioned main ingredients, the masks are infused with extracts from soy ferment, white willow bark, cinnamon, cypress leaf and oregano leaf to soothe and protect skin.
Although I’ve come across many sheet masks in resealable storage bags, this was my first time trying one. The material was soft, lightweight and easy enough to unravel. Placing it on my face was the tricky part – my major beef with sheet masks is always the fit! This one is incredibly large and probably one of the most ill-fitting designs I’ve ever tried. Thankfully, the mask delivered on its moisturizing promises. After the recommended 10 to 20 minutes of use, my skin felt plump and hydrated, albeit a little sticky.
Step 7: Eye Patch Set
I was immediately intrigued when I saw (G)I-DLE’s Soojin wearing this hydrogel eye mask. It’s fun and Insta-worthy, but is it any good for skin care? The masks are formulated to brighten and depuff eyes, with added ingredients like Aquarich to cool and Matrixyl®300 to revitalize skin.
Unlike the sheet masks, the eye patches weren’t dripping in essence. In fact, there was no visible liquid at all. The fit was nice and snug due to the mask’s small notches near the eye sockets. The hydrogel inner layer hugged the curves of my face well and was incredibly cooling, as if it had been stored in the fridge. This mask is a good way to cool and calm eyes after staring at a screen all day.
Step 8: Cream
The face cream is infused with butylene glycol to smooth skin’s texture, cranberry extract for anti-aging care, and glycerin for deep, penetrating moisture.
I was excited to find this cream came in a press pump design. Since I started using AGATHA’s Optimum Cleansing Water, I’ve grown to love pump packaging as it’s fuss-free and hygienic. The flat surface is easy to clean and limits bacteria from entering the tub.
With just two pumps, it dispensed an adequate amount of the light blue cream with bits of capsules to moisturize skin. The cooling and hydrating cream was great for my evening routine, but not so much for the morning as it left my forehead feeling greasy.
Step 9: Water Sun Stick
My experience with this small, portable sun stick has been the most surprising out of all the products. I have oily skin, and sunscreens almost always leave my skin feeling sticky or greasy by midday. However, this sun stick melted like butter upon application and left a smooth, non-sticky finish, even after multiple applications.
Final Verdict
I wanted a hydrating skin care routine suitable for my oily skin in the winter, and these great products do just that. Beyond the pretty packaging, VT’s Super Hyalon skin care selection is incredibly moisturizing. This routine is a winning combination for my oily skin, with the standouts being the Bubble Sparkling Booster and the Water Sun Stick!
