Signs & Attires

Your bestie just called you up for an impromptu movie marathon, but you’re

not really feeling action or horror. Prepare for a trip down memory lane by suggesting a chick flick that suits your crowd or simply fits your mood.

Selected with your astral qualities in mind, these movies will hopefully not only lighten up your evening and inspire wardrobe choices but also leave you with a life lesson or two (just ignore the highly predictable plot lines and endings).

Pisces x To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You (2020)

If there’s a teenage rom-com that screams Piscean, that’d be the TATB series adapted from Jenny Han’s bestselling novels. Following the events of the first film, this sequel starts off with Lara Jean (played by Lana Condor) and Peter Kavinsky (played by major heartthrob Noah Centineo) adjusting to their now-official relationship. When one of Lara Jean’s childhood crushes enters the picture again, her world shakes – and perhaps even her heart. Noting that none of this would’ve happened if it weren’t for all of her unsent love letters being mailed out by accident, the second film radiates total Piscean-worthy romance-related drama. If the juicy storyline itself isn’t convincing enough, Lara Jean’s vibrant wardrobe choices will surely capture any Piscean’s heart.

Aries x Freaky Friday (2003)

This family-friendly classic guarantees 90 minutes worth of laughter, wit, cringe and also heartfelt moments. Iconic 70s scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis and Disney’s Parent Trap star Lindsay Lohan play a mother and daughter who don’t see eye to eye in many aspects of their lifestyles. One freaky Friday, they swap bodies and begin to understand each other’s differences. Arians are bold and opinionated, so they’ll find themselves resonating with both main characters’ personalities. Lohan’s spunky punk-girl attire and Curtis’s serious and sensible wardrobe choices, as well as the fusion of both styles when they swap bodies, are sure to keep any Arian interested.

Taurus x Heathers (1989)

Heathers isn’t your ordinary teen movie – it’s dark and cynical but can still be categorized as a chick flick. This satirical screenplay features it girl Winona Ryder as Veronica Sawyer, who reluctantly joins a clique of popular girls all named Heather. The story unfolds as Veronica and her hard-case boyfriend J.D. (Christian Slater) attempt to avenge those who were victims of the school’s popular kids. Taureans are likely to be captivated by the cool-girl chic and devil-may-care attitude that make Veronica such a compelling character to follow! Featuring 80s silhouettes with 90s twists, Veronica’s assortment of tops, skirts, statement jackets and impeccably color-coordinated funeral attire all serve as major style inspo that Taureans will undoubtedly love.

Gemini x Mean Girls (2004)

The iconic Mean Girls begins with main girl Cady (Lindsay Lohan) enrolling in North Shore High School after moving to the US from South Africa. Having spent the last decade of her life being homeschooled, Cady plays along with manipulative queen bee Regina George (Rachel McAdams) and her squad the “Plastics” as she faces the unfamiliar and terrifying world of high school politics. Regina and her crew have many rules, including wearing pink on Wednesdays, matching shoes to your skirt color unless wearing boots, never pairing strappy shoes with mini skirts, not wearing a tank top two days in a row, only wearing a ponytail once a week, and most importantly, “No one can wear hoop earrings, that’s Regina’s thing.” Geminis can be indecisive, so these rules pose as both a good #InstagramChallenge and as ideas to shake up their outfits. How can a Gemini not love Mean Girls with all its drama and decade-defining quotes? So fetch!

Cancer x Dirty Dancing (1987)

There’s something magical about summer romances in films. They’re beguiling, mysterious and hard to resist, and this 80s classic illustrates the feeling perfectly, along with a singalong soundtrack and dance moves that’ll get any Cancerian’s heart pumping! Dirty Dancing follows 17-year-old Frances, nicknamed Baby, on her resort summer holiday with her family. Bored stiff of her company, she stumbles into the resort employees’ after-party and is immediately captivated by the risqué dancing as well as statuesque dancer Johnny. Baby’s wardrobe doesn’t go through a dramatic transformation – she realistically re-wears pieces throughout the movie. However, her choice of styling does change after she starts dancing, as she ditches the demure white dress and oversized cardi for sleeveless blouses, denim shorts and flowy midi skirts. Alright, Cancerians, it’s time to jot down styling tips that’ll transform your looks without having to buy more!

Leo x Clueless (1995)

This cheery and fun take on Jane Austen’s Emma centers around Cher Horowtiz, a pretty, popular and ultra-rich high-schooler with an innate urge to “help” those who aren’t as fortunate as her. Cher’s sweet yet clueless nature makes her a lovable character that’s hard to hate. Let’s not forget her color-coded revolving closet linked to a computer, which helps her determine A+ outfit choices! Leos will love that. Aside from delivering brilliant one-liners, Cher and her BFFs wear a plethora of scene-stealing outfits that are coming back in trend and perfect for Leos. To name a few, there’s the iconic plaid ensemble, the sassy P.E kit, the unmissable red Alaia dress, the pastel matchmaker ‘fit and that signature Calvin Klein white tank dress effortlessly paired with a sheer chiffon shirt.
