Making a Colorful Splash with BLITHE’s Patting Splash Mask

Estimated Reading Time: 3 minutes

I’ve trialed plenty of sheet masks and clay masks, but I’ve never seen a mask quite like BLITHE’s Patting Splash Mask. Not only does it come in three vivid colors, but it’s also available in mini 150ml versions, allowing you to bring them on trips! The innovative liquid mask contains a concentrated blend of lactic acid and rich fruit extracts to condition and revitalize fatigued skin. It offers a plethora of effects such as exfoliating, deep cleansing, moisturizing, pH-balancing and brightening. All three contain natural extracts such as bilberry extract, gardenia fruit extract, sugarcane extract, lemon extract, orange extract and sugar maple extract, as well as moisturizing ingredients panthenol and sodium lactate. Read on for a breakdown of how these fun and unique masks helped my skin glow!

Initial Thoughts

The mask’s unusual application method intrigued me most. Because it’s a highly concentrated chemical exfoliator, it must be diluted with water. BLITHE suggests that you pour a capful of the mask into 700ml of water, which you then mix and splash onto skin for 15 seconds. Alternatively, use it in the shower by pouring a capful of the mask onto your palms and diluting it with shower water.

For the first application method, BLITHE recommends using a bowl or sink, so I used a large plastic container. To be honest, it was time-consuming to measure 700ml of water every morning, and mixing a capful in that much water felt like a waste as I never used the whole 700ml. Furthermore, it was quite messy to splash the mixture onto my face as it would get all over the bathroom counter and floor. Instead of splashing, I ended up massaging and patting the mask on my face, which worked just fine.

Due to issues with the first method, I tried and preferred BLITHE’s other suggestion. I used the mask in the shower after cleansing my face, and it was much simpler and less fussy. After mixing the mask with water, the formula felt like foamy, bubbly water that gently coated my skin. I diluted the product with less water but did not experience any negative side effects. However, if you have sensitive skin, it’s better to be careful and stick with BLITHE’s 1:10 ratio. You should also apply sunscreen afterward!

Soothing & Healing Green Tea

This green-colored liquid mask controls excess oil, removes dead skin cells and impurities from pores, and offers soothing benefits. It contains tea tree leaf oil, lavender oil, green tea leaf extract, wintergreen leaf extract and safflower extract. Despite the main ingredients being tea tree oil and green tea leaf extract, I actually found the main scent of the mask to be lavender. The herbal, slightly bitter aroma immediately wakes you up.

I struggle with an oily T-zone, inflammation and acne, so skin care infused with green tea and tea tree is always right up my alley. I found the Soothing & Healing Green Tea mask to be a mild yet effective cleanser and exfoliator that left my skin smoother, and even calmed down my hormonal acne!

Rejuvenating Purple Berry

This purple-colored liquid mask leaves stressed skin looking more youthful by offering firming and rejuvenating effects. It contains sweet potato root extract as well as a variety of fruit extracts from berries, including acai berry, strawberry, blackberry, raspberry and blueberry.

Not only do I love eating berries, but I’ve also long been a fan of the fruit’s wide range of skin care benefits. Antioxidant-rich berries protect skin from sun damage and wrinkles, while brightening, moisturizing and tightening skin! I was disappointed by the overly sugary sweet smell of the Rejuvenating Purple Berry mask, which reminded me of cough syrup. In general, the scents of these three masks are a little strong and artificial for my liking, and this one is my least favorite.

Despite the scent, I enjoyed the formula overall. It was cooling and made my skin feel hydrated with improved elasticity and tightened pores.

Energy Yellow Citrus & Honey

This yellow-colored liquid mask helps remove dead skin cells and impurities while promoting a brighter and clearer complexion. It’s enriched with plenty of natural oils, such as grapefruit peel oil, lemon peel oil, orange oil, lavandin oil, clary sage oil, Texas cedarwood oil, peppermint oil and sandalwood oil.

The Energy Yellow Citrus & Honey version had my favorite scent, which was the mildest and least artificial of the three masks. I found it to be a pleasant balance of sweet and tangy. The mask made my skin feel soft and clean, and gave my dull complexion a bright glow!

Overall Thoughts

Although it took a while for me to find a way to seamlessly incorporate this splash mask into my hurried morning routine, I enjoyed it afterward. A major concern I had with the splash masks was the fragrances. The aromas are intense if sniffed directly from the bottle, but once diluted with water, the scents fade away and become more subtle.

Promises of firming and brightening might require more regular, repeated usage to see effects, but I experienced an almost immediate difference in other areas. These masks provided thorough moisturization and exfoliation, which made my skin feel silky smooth, squeaky clean and refreshed. They created the perfect base for me to start my morning makeup routine – or made me feel better about going out makeup-free. I recommend BLITHE’s Patting Splash Mask as a great way to wake you and your skin up, and to see long-term results in your complexion and skin texture!
