Chances are that Blake Lively felt pretty comfortable in her outfit for Gigi Hadid's birthday party in New York over the weekend, as it very much channelled the character that kicked off
her career: Serena van der Woodsen. If you know anything about her iconic Gossip Girl character, you know that her going-out outfits were hardly of the low-key variety. As someone who watched every episode of Gossip Girl IRL, I can confirm that there were more than a few instances of Lively wearing the classic going-out outfit formula of an ultra-short mini dress and heels. And lo and behold, that's exactly what she wore to Hadid's birthday party.
For the festive occasion, Hadid wore a magenta Sergio Hudson dress with a red Chanel clutch and red Christian Louboutin heels. And if someone looked at the photo without context, they could've easily mistaken it for a Gossip Girl night shoot 13 years prior.
