Inspiring NYFW Runway Looks… But Make It PLUS!

When I was younger, I craved to be at NYFW especially when the tents were located at Bryant Park. Once in college, I had the opportunity to dress models, clean the

dressing room, and had the chance to see Reem Acra’s runway show.

Just people watching during NYFW is everything. You get to see all the celebrities, influencers, and A-listers in their best. You see how people either effortlessly express themselves in their fashion choices or look a hot mess. (I’m watching but not judging) *Lips sealed  The most inspiring aspect is FINALLY seeing models and women that look like me in high-end fashion.

Here are my top 3 favorite fashion shows from NYFW Winter/Fall collection. I will talk about what stood out the most from each for show, and how to incorporate it with your wardrobe. Also, with every look, I will give you plus size options of a similar look.

Brandon Maxwell

This collection inspiration is for his “memaw”, who has Alzheimer’s. Unlike most of his collections which had bold hues and standout prints. The fashion felt more like a warm hug with neutral tones, cable knit sweaters with long satin skirts.

Brandon Maxwell does go up to size 24 and model Paloma Elsesser graced his runway show as well. The below look is a must-have for all plus size women a thick cable knit dress and suede above the knee boots. There are so many possibilities to add color, style, and personality.

Michael Kors

This collection screams posh New York City people, taking their time, enjoying life, and dressing well. The runway is draped is furs, elegant silhouettes, with perfect suiting for fall/winter. The tweed pieces are standouts with fur accessories and wide belts.

Michael does provide plus sizes and goes up to size 3x. You can find some of his designs at Macy’s. The above look is super simple yet everything for your wardrobe. This look can be worn so many ways and for several seasons. Don’t you love a simple, clean, and classic look?

Sergio Hudson

This is my favorite collection of NYFW Fall/Winter 2022. The femininity, beautiful silhouettes, fun prints, and bold colors. These designs screams a woman who knows what she wants, is confident, and just doesn’t care what anyone has to say.

Slip dresses are here to stay. If you haven’t you must add one to your wardrobe NOW! They are a perfect addition because they are easy to dress up and down. Slip dresses are also perfect for layering during the colder months.
