Self Care & Creating Intentional Botanical Spaces Part 2: Where to Source Your Plants While Staying Safe at Home

If you’re reading this, it most likely means you are curious about how to start your plant care journey. Last week, we shared my favorite beginner-friendly house plant picks. Did you

catch that? Well, let’s talk about some great ways you can source and purchase your plants while quarantined at home.

Feeding your new plant passion is so much easier than you think. Just because we are safely quarantining, does not mean that you cannot get your much needed plant fix.

To help you out, I have compiled a list of Black-owned online and in-store plant nurseries.

Get your fill!

In addition to this list, my awesome Twitter followers have also provided me with another an extensive list! This one is of plant-centric, black owned companies that you should take some time to follow, research and purchase from!

Along with purchasing from online nurseries, another great way to source plants is through different Etsy shops. The ones that specialize in shipping plant cuttings and starter plants.

Another method of sourcing plants is through Facebook Marketplace. I know, right? Don’t forget plant enthusiast groups. This is where members send cuttings and rooted plants to fellow members.

Another way that I have sourced plants and have built genuine friendships is through the creation of a group chat started by my friend Avamarie of AvaEats. Our history started when she told me that she had another amazing friend, the sweet Zariel of ZariGee Made That. Zariel loved plants and also wanted to join the group chat.

Months later, we are creating a new brand called, Plant Bae Collective.
