12 Plus Size Influencers Size 24 And Over That You Need To Follow And Support

If you’re tired of looking up plus size models and seeing the same hourglass, size 1x, body and face, feel free to nod your head. This is a safe space.

Where are the size 24 and over hotties?!

The average size of a woman in America is size 16 and 18 but for some reason, fashion sites, clothing stores, plus size influencers, and the plus size modeling industry still insist on selling us smooth stomachs, no belly, no back fat, thin calves, hourglass shapes, and round asses.

I’m in community with fat women, and I know for certain all of us are built differently. Only a small percentage is represented in print ads, clothing endorsements, and receiving popularity and having the opportunity to grow their brands authentically.

How many plus size influencers you know wearing a size 24 and up?

How many of those influencers are Black?

As people living with multiple identities, we must remember that most if not all of those identities carry some kind of privilege; fatness is no different.

Within the fat community, there is often the idea that we’re all fat, we’re all plus size, we’re all fighting the same fight. As good as that sounds on paper, we all know this is not so simple.

Someone who is a size 1X, 16, or even a size 20 is not experiencing the oppression or othering that someone who is a size 24, 26, or 32.

As a community, we have to hold space for fat people of all sizes and all experiences. That means showing up for influencers and models who are not the conventionally attractive fat and plus size that we’ve been conditioned into accepting.

Every time I see someone above a size 24 reclaiming their autonomy, standing in their essence and beauty, and taking up space, both literally and figuratively, my eyes can’t help but to light up.

If your list of body positive influencers and public figures only include fat folks under a size 22 and only includes fat women who are “proportioned” and shapely, then you’re doing it wrong.
