Earth Day 2021: 10 Easy Steps You Can Take To Restore Our Earth

April 22 is celebrated as International Earth Day all around the world to show support for environmental protection and conservation. Communities around the world engage in different Earth Week activities through

an entire week of events focused on the environmental issues that the world faces. What is earth day?

The theme for this year’s Earth day is ‘Restore Our Earth.’ Out of respect for mother earth and to become socially and environmentally responsible, you can start taking small steps today for a better world tomorrow. This year’s theme focuses on five primary programs:

  • The Canopy Project
  • Food and Environment
  • Climate Literacy
  • The Global Earth Challenge
  • The Great Global CleanUp

During the week of Earth Day, EARTHDAY.ORG and lead organizers, Education International, Hip Hop Caucus, and Earth Uprising organized three separate parallel climate action summits on climate literacy, environmental justice, and youth-led climate-focused issues. EARTHDAY.ORG also organized the second-annual Earth Day Live livestream event today, featuring global activists, international leaders, and influencers.

With our health on the line and severe environmental concerns gaining ground, we cannot continue to ignore our surroundings. Deforestation, plastic use, emission pollution from factories and other industrial waste are among the primary causes of damages to our planet.

When it comes to comprehending what we can do collectively to begin to fix the problems, it can be hard to jot down all the options. These tips will help you embrace sustainability in your everyday life and help you act wisely too.

Here are the little steps you can take to Restore Our Earth…

When you’re done washing your hands and even while brushing your teeth, make sure you turn off the tap. If it’s leaking, please fix it as soon as possible. This will help you save up gallons of water and contribute to water conservation.

#2. Unplug Electronics When Not In Use

Energy conservation is just about as necessary, so remember to turn off all household appliances when you’re not using them. Unplugging your electronic devices like coffee machines, toasters, blenders, and the likes will help you save electricity. That way, you are also not racking up your bills.

#3. Buy Eco-Friendly Products

Drinking out of plastic water bottles can be detrimental to our health and the environment. Instead of using plastic bottles, get in the habit of drinking from reusable water bottles made from stainless steel, glass, or copper.

#5. Turn Off The Lights Before Leaving The Room

Every year, we celebrate Earth Hour annually and shut down all light sources for one hour to save energy. We can adopt this practice in our daily lives by always turning off the lights when they’re not in use.

#6. Cycle

Driving is convenient and fun, but it’s good to feel the fresh air on your face every once in a while. If your workplace is nearby or you’re headed to a nearby grocery store, ditch the car and cycle instead. Cycling will help you get to your desired location in less time. Bonus: You will save tons of fuel, money and get your rusty muscles moving for good.

#7. Embrace Greenery At Home

You can go green even within the walls of your house. Give your home a green makeover by installing houseplants and/or using energy-efficient lights to conserve electricity. Floral decor ideas are also a fun thing to try out! Indoor plants will not only beautify your home, but they will also purify the air.

#8. Make A Switch To E-Books

I know that some of us enjoy the luxurious feeling of holding a book in our hands. However, it’s good to take a different route and read your favorite books online sometimes. Some E-books also come with interactive illustrations.

#9. Hone Your Cooking Skills

Food prepared at home is hygienic, delicious, and healthy. When you cook your meals, you’re saving money, time, and effort to go to the restaurant or eat packaged food. Spending time in the kitchen can also be fun and therapeutic. Cooking also allows you to bond with your partner or kids.
