Last week, fierce was the name of the beauty game and Black top-liners came through with a winning streak. Not only did the best beauty looks relay the message of empowerment,
but they also had us prepping our makeup brushes to try out the latest ultra-fabulous face beats. Makeup trends for black girls.
Hair
Bringing back the 80s and 90s with a bowl haircut, American actress and singer Serayah McNeill effortlessly shone last week. Her thick fringe-like hairdo was a hit, and its face-framing effect had us in flawless awe. Equally storming the short hairstyle scene with a bang, Hollywood’s Jurnee Smollett had a gorgeous wavy bob moment. Sleekly parted to the side, the voluminous hair gave off fun and flirty vibes. Makeup trends for black girls.
On the braided side of things, Tia Mowry and Storm Reid showed up and showed out with updos nothing short of stunning. From details like Tia’s curly tips and waist-length dimensions to Storm’s honey-gold extensions, the protective styles dazzled. It’s safe to say the American actresses were on a mission to inspire our tress to-do lists and they succeeded.
Makeup
We think it’s safe to say Lizzo solidified her position as the au natural queen of our hearts this past week. The American singer-songwriter and flutist’s faux freckles and glowy skin beamed in a mood-lifting “no makeup” makeup shot. Even more refreshing, her amplification on beauty being a self-care tool for black girls everywhere spoke volumes. Similarly upholding black girl magic, Chloe Bailey’s red lip look was the femme-fierce minute we never knew we needed. And simply put, we couldn’t get enough!
Also bringing some melanin effervescence our way, Nigerian model Teminkan looked amazing in a full matte face beat. With an interesting lid play on nude tones and a smokey crease, coupled with glossy chocolate-like lips, she hit the mark on all things striking. Finally, Erica Nlewedim was a glamorous bombshell with rose pink lips and an infectious smile. She conveyed a burst of positivity, and we’re sure anyone who came across the luminous image felt it and lightened up.
