We’ve tried to understand why, for many people and at this particular time – especially among the new and very new generations – there’s a growing
Accordingly, we have written about new rituals and old superstitions, magical numbers, wonderful illustrated books and NFT zodiacs, philosophers and faith healers, TikTok gurus, feminist techno-witches, and above all artists who, as Mariuccia Casadio tells us in this issue, are extraordinary and visionary spokeswomen for the psyche and the occult, for dreams and the arcane, for precognition and symbols.
There’s a story about a man with a passion for photographing the stars. Not the stars you’d expect to find in a fashion magazine (on that note, it’s incredible to think how obsolete the idea of film or runway “stars” sounds today), but rather distant galaxies deep in space. He travels to parts of the world where the darkness is truly dark, and he observes with infinite patience. He gazes beyond the disturbance of the luminous glow emitted by our civilisation, which in recent days has been considering how to save the planet – in words and without much of a hurry, let’s say by 2060. Beyond the artificial satellites of the modern age that fill the night sky, beyond these uncertain times in which we live, he observes a place of imagination and tranquillity.
But most of all we’ve played, starting with our 12 covers, one for each sign of the zodiac. Because this issue is dedicated to everyone who believes in such things. To all those who don’t believe, but never say never. And to anyone who needed to hear, as you’ll read on page 66, that the stars are promising a period of joy, light-heartedness and renewal: it’s going to be summer for everyone.
