It's poised to be a major month for Zayn Malik. On Friday, he posted on Instagram for the first time since July. In his cryptic post, Malik teased some new life
developments days before his girlfriend Gigi Hadid is set to give birth to their first child.
He shared a polaroid photo of himself, showing off some new ink on his back while standing next to a man wearing a black face mask. "Got some stuff to show ya soon!" he simply wrote, opening up the comment section to dozens of theories. Some speculated it was simply the new tattoo, which appears to sit between the rose at his neck and cluster of buildings towards the bottom of his spine. Others guessed new music. But when Hadid, whose due date is any day now, commented "!!" many thought Malik could be referencing their daughter.
Malik has stayed relatively quiet during Hadid's pregnancy, which she confirmed in April. He hasn't even referenced the baby news on Instagram, instead posting a caption-less, up-close shot of himself wearing eyeliner on July 31. But Hadid has posted frequent updates, becoming more open in recent months about showing off her bump in a maternity photo shoot.
On the same day as Malik's July 31 post, Hadid shared the first photo of the couple since confirming they were expecting a daughter. "baby daddy ☺️" she captioned the kissing selfie, which has more than 10 million likes on Instagram.
E! spoke to a source in August about how the couple is spending the final days of Hadid's pregnancy. They've apparently relocated from the family farm in Pennsylvania, where they were quarantining, back to New York City. Per the source, Hadid plans to give birth in the city and build a nursery in the fully furnished $5.8M+ Noho apartment where she and Malik reside. The model also shared photos of the space and referred to it as "my passion project / dream spot."
The insider added that Hadid's pregnancy has strengthened her and Malik's relationship, which re-started in late 2019 after and on-off romance dating back to 2015. "Zayn and Gigi are really excited and have been loving this experience together," the source told E!. "They both are reading parenting books, have had fun planning the nursery and picking out items together. Things are going really smoothly, and they are closer as a couple more than ever."
Whatever Malik's big social media reveal is, he'll soon have his first child to share it with.
