1. Nigeria: Ebuka Obi-Uchendu confirmed as host of BBNaija season 6

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu is to return as host of this year’s “Big Brother Naija” reality television show. The popular TV host confirmed his return for the show’s sixth season via posts on Instagram and Twitter shared on May 10, 2021. “Well, guess who’s returning as the host of the next season of #BBNaija,” Obi-Uchendu wrote on Instagram alongside a throwback video of himself from the last season.

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu began hosting Big Brother Naija in 2017 with the Big Brother Naija ‘See Gobe’ season. A Big Brother Naija alumni, the star broadcaster participated in the first season of the show in 2006.

2. Nicki Minaj teases comeback

Following the death of her father, Nicki Minaj is back to work already. The Pink Friday rapper brought it back to the essence of the Barbie aesthetic in her pink office with matching pink Crocs, pink Richard Mille watch, and pink heart-shaped pillows covering what appears to be her bare body. There was little to caption the photo except, “F R I D A Y.”

Nicki Minaj seems to have something in store for her fans this week—a well-deserved treat after proving their power in numbers on social media and streaming services. Though it’s unclear what Nicki has in store, fans are clearly awaiting her return to the rap game.

3. South African artist Loyiso Mkize pencils first comic book for DC Comics

Cape Town visual artist and creator Loyiso Mkize and, the man behind SA’s first-ever superhero series “Kwezi” – has made it to the big leagues. Mkize has penciled his first comic book for DC Comics which will go on sale at bookstores from June 8 in the US. He took to Instagram to announce the news and give fans a sneak peek of what he has been working on.

After seven years of working on Kwezi Comic Books and 15 episodes of the superhero series, Mkize ended his journey with the superhero in April, with his latest collectors edition 13 to 15 currently on sale.

4. Ghana: Okyeame Kwame, other musicians to raise funds to support building of African Heritage Museum

Musician Okyeame Kwame and his colleagues, such as Pat Thomas, Bessa Simons, would start raising funds through a musical concert to support the African World Heritage Museum building. The Museum, the brainchild of Prof Kojo Yankah, founder of African University College of Communications (AUCC), is being built to provide education, healing, and inspiration showcasing the history, culture, and achievements of the Pan African world as presented by Africans.

Speaking after the sod-cutting of the project by President Akufo-Addo, the rapper indicated that he and his colleagues who believe in the concept of the project would be raising funds to support it. He explained that on May 29, there would be a fund-raising project at +233 to bring people together to listen to amazing highlife music from him, Pat Thomas, Bessa Simons, and other artistes.

5. Callum Wilson: Newcastle striker to miss final three games of the season

Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson will miss the final three games of the season due to a hamstring injury. The 29-year-old sustained the injury in the closing stages of the Magpies’ 4-2 win at Leicester on Friday, in which he scored twice. He missed seven games earlier in the season with the same injury.

Wilson, who joined from Bournemouth in September 2020, has scored 12 Premier League goals in his first season with the Magpies. Newcastle’s impressive win at the King Power Stadium, plus subsequent defeats for West Brom and Fulham, secured their top-flight status for another season.
