Fashion typically rewards risk takers and like with everything risk-related, the greater the risk, the louder the acclaim. Last week, some of the most stylish women across Africa stepped out in
various colorful combinations that shone so bright, the sun hopped on a jealous path. From body-hugging mini dresses to flowy whimsical gowns, African celebrities and influencers took to Instagram to flaunt their latest interpretation of the art of style.
Kicking things off, Nigerian designer Lisa Folawiyo stepped out in a mixed print tie and dye off-the-shoulder mini dress with cut-out detailing around the midriff. She paired the statement piece with a pair of lilac lace up pumps and a purple pouch. The highlight of her look was her neon green manicure which succeeded in stealing the already fabulous show.
In South Africa, blues and reds took center stage on the fashion scene. Model and Miss South Africa Universe 2021 Natasha Joubert paired her striped red and white dress with a an unpredictable gold belt as she opted for red earrings and white sandals. Her barely there glam makeup look was a perfect balance to the vibrant outfit while her slick updo was a perfect reminder that the bun hairstyle is truly timeless.
The looks shared by African celebrities and top fashion influencers last week were nothing short of chic, edgy, and glamorous, and it’s safe to say that we are, as usual, living vicariously through them.
