Destiny's Child may have broken up in 2005, but Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams's impact on the world continues to be felt today. And despite going their “separate” ways all
those years ago, Bey, Kelly, and Michelle are still really close friends.
On Instagram yesterday, Michelle posted short clips of virtual meet ups she had with Bey and Kelly during the pandemic as part of her new mental health book, Checking In. And naturally, the conversations were incredibly heart-warming.
“Oh, we love and miss you so much,” Beyoncé said. “We're so proud of you, Mimi! You are so inspirational for both of us, and we just love watching you become exactly who you are and the world [to] see your impact, wisdom, and beautiful advice.”
In the second clip Michelle shared, the women are all in the “kitchen”—Kelly was making some chicken and rice soup, while Bey revealed she's working on some music! “I'm cooking some music—that's Chef Boyarbee and Chef Boy-Kelly,” Beyoncé said, adding, “You know I'm editing that shit out.”
Bey also asked Michelle what she wanted people to learn from her book, and Michelle said:
“It's okay to not be okay. And it's okay to tell somebody you're not okay. Because I honestly should have done that with y'all. I've been open about a lot of things, but I never was really truthful about how I really was...even though y'all have proven to be safe friends, safe sisters, sometimes people have to know that you're not going to be looked at differently if you say, ‘Y'all, I've been really sad too long. Something's going on.’”
In response to Michelle's openness, Bey reassured her that she and Kelly will always be a part of her life and personal journey. “Kelly and I feel so honored that we are now your safe place where you can express any and everything,” Bey said. “We know that you are that for us, and you've always been that for us, so we're just happy to be along this journey and happy to witness the birth in your new chapter...It's 20 years [of friendship]. It ain't going nowhere.”
