That Presidential Debate Needed A Different Host. Twitter Has Some Suggestions.

While opinions about presidential debates run the gamut, there was a general consensus that last night's first matchup between Joe Biden and Donald Trump...wasn't it. Fox News' Chris Wallace was tasked

with corralling the candidates for their first socially-distanced debate in Cleveland. But viewers quickly found themselves wanting to stay six feet away from the chaotic energy between the three men.

Despite both campaigns' agreeing to let the other speak on policy issues for two minutes uninterrupted, there were interjections galore, mostly from Trump. “Will you shut up, man?” Biden said at one point. And at another, Wallace pleaded with the commander-in-chief to let Biden get a word in edgewise.

“Mr. President, I am the moderator of this debate, and I would like you to let me ask my question and then you can answer it,” he advised.

In the end, everyone lost—time, sleep, and answers to how either Biden or Trump would deliver us from 2020 with a shred of dignity intact. The disorderly debate got viewers thinking about who would have been a better host for the evening. Some compared the debate to Andy Cohen's Real Housewives reunions, which looked a lot more civilized in light of last night. Others craved the accountability of Ziwe Fumudoh's Instagram Lives.

Chris Wallace's debate performance tonight is a great reminder that kindergarten teachers are underpaid. #Debates2020

One could make the case that any host would've been better suited if they'd just had the power of a mute button. Alas, the moderators for future debates have already been determined. But in case any want to jump ship, here's the internet's ideas for alternate emcees.

.@iamcardib fact-checking Trump in real time on Instagram while filming the TV with her phone, instantly asserting “She said that!” when he denied that Kellyanne Conway said rioting improved his election prospects — Cardi is one of our most informed voters https://t.co/62dSy0YIBp
