Octo: not just a Spider-Man nemesis

The Octo is Bulgari’s golden child: the watch has broken

several records for the thinnest timepiece in the world (They are locked in a neverending war for that honor with Piaget). A version of the Octo Finissimo with a perpetual calendar currently holds the title of thinnest perpetual calendar watch ever made. The Roma was dreamt up as the milder, more wearable version of the Finissimo, which is all sharp edges. But while the Roma may give up some of its sibling’s cutting-edge design (pun intended), it doesn’t sacrifice an advanced movement. This new world time watch is proof of that.

Blue is the new green

Several months ago, the watch world was sounding a whole lot like Kermit the Frog. You couldn’t talk about a hot new watch release without mentioning forests, emeralds, or limes. A lot can change in a single summer, though, and the watch industry has a new best friend in the color blue. See Breitling’s Cobra, the above Octo, a new Royal Oak (below), and maybe best of all, this new limited-edition Doxa. Usually watch brands going blue fall back on classic navy, the color of a nicely tailored (and safe) suit. Doxa, on the other hand, went with a super bright blue.

Bonus: Go Offshore

While technically this suite of new Royal Oak Offshore watches from Audemars Piguet wasn’t revealed as part of Geneva Watch Days, they debuted last week so I’m lumping them in here. There are five new Offshores all together, but the showstoppers are these colorful new 42-millimeter editions. The two new pieces come in the colors of the year: baby blue and deep forest green.
