Zendaya Made a Gold Breastplate Look Chic on the Red Carpet in a Loewe Dress at the WIF Honors

It isn't everyday someone wears a gold breastplate on a red carpet, but Zendaya and stylist Law Roach made that major style moment happen last night at the Women in Film

Honors at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. Zendaya wore a gray Loewe dress adorned with a gold breastplate. She accessorized with statement gold dangle earrings and gold heels.

Roach spoke to ELLE.com earlier this year about what it was like dressing Zendaya for her film Malcolm & Marie versus dressing her for the red carpet. The two have worked together for years.

“I think there are some similarities [between dressing Zendaya for the red carpet and dressing her as Marie for Malcolm & Marie]. It's still Zendaya's body. It's still Zendaya's physicality, which is beautiful. When we do things together, we always create a narrative or a character. There has to be a story behind why the clothes are chosen. Who is she at that moment? It's always been my job to create that narrative, to bring the pieces to the story. Then she takes them and becomes whoever it is and evokes whatever emotion we decided on. I put that into designing for Marie, too.”

Roach has styled Anya Taylor-Joy, Halsey, Priyanka Chopra, and many more A-lsit stars. When it comes to approaching his different celeb clients, “I collaborate with my clients,” he said. “I always hope I get my way with them. I think one of the best compliments I ever received about my work is that all my clients look like themselves. None of them look alike. They all have their own identity. I think that comes with work. That comes with collaboration. That comes with me really listening and watching, and a lot of research on the client.”
