Rapper Tory Lanez has been charged with shooting Meghan Thee Stallion on July 12, Los Angeles County prosecutors announced yesterday, via CNN and The Hollywood Reporter. Lanez now has two felony
counts. The Hollywood Reporter wrote that they are "assault with a semiautomatic firearm—personal use of a firearm; and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle." Authorities additionally told the outlet that Lanez "faces a gun allegation and that he personally inflicted great bodily injury."
Lanez is accused of shooting Megan in the foot multiple times. He is scheduled to be arraigned on October 13, and faces a maximum prison sentence of 22 years and eight months if convicted as charged.
Megan first spoke about the incident on her Instagram Live on July 27.
She explained that “I was shot in both of my feet and I had to get surgery to get the shit taken out, to get the bullets taken out, and it was super scary...I had to get surgery. It was super scary. It was just the worst experience of my life, and it’s not funny, it’s nothing to joke about. It was nothing for y’all to go and be making fake stories about."
"I didn’t put my hands on nobody," she continued. "I didn’t deserve to get shot. I didn’t do shit. And thank God that the bullets didn’t touch bones. They didn’t break tendons. I know my mama and my daddy and granny had to be looking out for me, ’cause where the bullets hit at, they missed everything, but the motherf*ckers were in there."
On August 20, she confirmed reports that Lanez shot her during an Instagram Live after false reports about what happened kept spreading. "You shot me and you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs lying," she said during an Instagram Live, after naming Lanez as her assailant.
