Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion is graduating from Texas Southern University with a bachelor's degree in health administration. The 26-year-old has been pursuing her degree as she takes over the music
industry, and she celebrated her accomplishment on Instagram with some photos in her school's swag.
“I’ll be graduating from my HBCU TEXAS SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY this Saturday!!” she captioned the image. “I want y’all to remember that you can do whatever you wanna do and be whoever you wanna be, cause look at me!”
The graduate started celebrating quite a few weeks ago, posting a teaser image of her bedazzled graduation cap on Instagram as well, which read, “Real Hot Girl Shit.”
In June 2020, Megan told People magazine that despite her success as a rapper, it was important to her to get a degree to honor the memory of both her late mother and her late grandmother. Her mother, Holly Thomas, passed away in March of 2019 after a battle with brain cancer.
“I want to get my degree because I really want my mom to be proud,” she said. “She saw me going to school before she passed.”
Twitter is celebrating Megan Thee Stallion's big day as well, even creating a custom hashtag emoji for the event that pops up with #MeganTheeGraduate.
In a tweet from July of this year, Megan Thee Stallion shared a little bit about the struggles of getting her degree, and encouraged anyone who wants to see things through to keep going.
My college experience has been a roller coaster! I started at PV went to some community colleges in between and I’m ending at TSU. Don’t get discouraged! You can chase your dreams and your education at the same time ??
