Earlier this week, it was reported that Kanye West had bought a $4.5 million home across the street from his ex, Kim Kardashian. West has been on a very public campaign
to win back his estranged wife and a source told Entertainment Tonight that his real estate decision was partially motivated by his desire for reconciliation.
“Kanye really wanted to buy a home near Kim and their kids to be close to them,” said the source. “Kanye saw a house on Kim's block was on the market and jumped at the chance to get it.”
The source added that West “thinks it will be easier to co-parent with Kim if they live close to each other” but he “also still wants to win [Kim] back.”
“Kanye believes he still has a chance,” the source continued. “Kim is fine with Kanye buying the home because she feels like it will be easier to co-parent and watch their kids in privacy.”
West and Kardashian have four children together, 8-year-old North, 6-year-old Saint, 3-year-old Chicago and 2-year-old Psalm. West's new home has five bedrooms, a pool, and a stable for horses. It sounds like a great place for kids, but it seems unlikely this strategy will win back his ex.
Earlier this month, the media mogul recently filed to be “officially single” and to remove the “West” from her last name. There are still aspects of their divorce to work out related to property and other assets. Kardashian has also begun dating comedian Pete Davidson, who she was first spotted with in October at Knott's Scary Farm. They have since confirmed they are dating, and have been seen visiting one another in their neighborhoods on opposite coasts.
Another source told ET that “Kim has been protective of Kanye and his feelings and has been trying to keep her hangouts with Pete low-key, because she doesn't know how he will react.”
